is it worth it to pay the 70 some dollars to attend mickey's very merry christmas party? one of my mom's friends just went to disney last december and bought a ticket for the party. she said that there were still people in the park who did not pay for the party and they were allowed to go on the rides and everything. the only thing they got for their 70 dollars that was different from the people still in the park was hot chocolate and sugar cookies. is this correct? we are thinking about planning a trip this december and we really want to go to mvmcp but paying 70 dollars for hot chocolate and sugar cookies sounds crazy! i hope my mom's friend was just confused. :veryconfu

I'd say go ONCE and then judge for yourself.

Everyone should experiance this party at least once.
I think it's well worth it.

If you do go...stay for the 2nd parade. A LOT of people leave after the first parade so it's not nearly as crowded during the 2nd parade.

How does she know that they didn't pay?

They may have been there during the day, but also had tickets for the MVMCP. I know at Universal Studios for their Halloween Horror Nights if you are already in the park when it closes and you have a ticket for Halloween Horror Nights you do not have to leave the park and reenter. They just scan your ticket and let you stay in the park in a certain area until they open for Halloween Horror Nights.

I would expect that Disney does the same thing as it wouldn't make sense to make people who are already in the park and have a ticket for MVMCP leave when they can just scan their ticket and let them stay in the park.

Is it really $70?

No..The OP must have confused the price for a standard base ticket at $75. For the special events..There's 2 prices and depending on specific dates they land.

Premium Dates are $55.94
Non Premium Dates are $48.95

This also goes with MNSSHP in Sept/Oct. However the price might go up when they release the 09 dates..

Hope this helps..

Thanks....I am planning on experiencing it in late November early December on a less crowded night. The $70 was making me rethink it.

I was there in December and attended a MVMCP one night. Beginning at 4pm, if you entered the MK with your MVMCP ticket, you were given a wristband. If you are already in the park, there are several stations where you can pick up your wristband. You cannot get any hot chocolate/apple juice/cookies, or go on any of the rides after 7pm without the wristband. I heard complaints about people staying in the park without wristbands to watch the first parade, however, from where we sat for the parade in Frontierland, cast members were walking around before the parade asking to see wristbands.

Also the price wasn't $70, it was around $50 and I believe that it was worth it.

My DH and I attended MVMCP on Sunday Nov. 30th, 2008. We paid $50.
Cheaper than a 1 day pass/ticket.We essentially had the park to ourselves! The fact that it had rained and a tornado came through Celebration FL earlier that day probably helped keep attendence low. Plus it was a school night for some locals. We had 8 hours of Magic :sohappy:
We entered MK at 4p; got our wristbands on as soon as we went through the turnstile...and off we went. Park closed at MN (for those who had event tickets/armbands). CM were asking visitors without armbands to leave the park at 7pm ish (when it closed to those without event tickets).
It was truly worth it for us. We had a great time. Parade and fireworks were awesome:)

If you've never been, you should go. The party is a great experience and the parade is great. Make sure you take advantage of the special things about the party. Splash Mountain will be open any day, but the Christmas parade will not run but at the party.

Go! You will have the greatest time. It is one of our very favorite experiences at WDW. If you go on a week night it is not very crowded, esp. after the first parade. We were able to walk on most rides, greet almost all the characters in their special costumes and see several parades/shows, plus the snow on Main Street. It is truly magical. The hot chocolate and cookies are the worst part, BTW!

At the beginning of MVMCP, yes, there are definitely people still lingering around the park that do not have wristbands. It is annoying. I think some even may get to sneak a peek at the first parade.

However, after that, the park really does empty out and you can walk on anything. Its worth going atleast one time I think.

Be warned, the snow on main street is kinda silly. Go take a bubble bath.....hhehe

I agree with Scooter, go once and decide for yourself.

IMO - I think its worth it. I love all the shows and the parade - especially the toy soldiers and Cinderella's horse drawn carriage. It is neat to see the snow on Main Street, the carolers and Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Yes, there will still be regular day guests in the park, but I have seen CM's ask to see wrist bands especially AFTER the park-wide announcement on the PA system about the Christmas party staring and how regular day guests must leave the park.

I went to MNSSHP last year and the CM's were great about sweeping out the day guests in a polite way.

Hope if you decide to give it a try that you really enjoy it!!!:xmas:

Non party guests are allowed to stay in MK for the first parade and fireworks ONLY and they MUST stay on Main Street USA, they are not allowed past Main Street into any of the lands nor are they allowed to purchase any party merchandise from the stores, nor are they allowed into any of the stores. When I was there in December I attended the party (with a ticket) and any time I tried to go beyond Main Street, a CM asked to see my wrist band. I was also asked to show my wristband anytime I went into a Main Street Store or onto any attractions.

You'll have a wonderful time. My DH and I went for our first "alone" trip sans kids the first week of December 2008. I bought tickets to the MVMCP during one of the nights. We had such a wonderful time that night that we attended a second party later during our trip. At first it was probably crowded, but the people really thinned out and we got to do every single thing we wanted--from seeing all the shows to riding certain rides to getting a good spot for the fireworks, etc. And we both noticed that the crowds that remained were all families with small children who were just in awe of everything and it was great to be able to see all the special events and characters through their eyes.

As stated here, if you are going to do it, arrive around 4PM and get your wristbands. There are dozens of people wandering around if you are already in the park giving out the wristbands. We have been to all of the after hour parties. I think the Christmas one is my second favorite behind the Halloween. All of them are well worth the cost. During the last party my son, who was 4 at the time, was able to ride Peter Pan half a dozen times, without getting off. You really feel like the park is all yours. We are planning on attending the MNSSHP when we go down in Sept or Oct. We recommend these after hour parties to all our friends when they are going down to WDW during the times they are having them.

We've been twice and love it. We always watch the second parade and love not being is such a crowd. Most families with young children leave after the first parade & Wishes. We have never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride during MVMCP.

I will say that i used to feel it was worth it, however this past yr. was the deal breaker. i understand disney cannot catch "everyone" but there were a TON of people without wirstbands way after normal park hours. we heard various people on monorails talking about how "not to worry about buying the tickets, they had stayed the night before without any problems" etc,. they also do the same shows, same parade and the same fireworks during off days, so IMO you are paying the $$ for some hot chocolate/cookies/apples

--edit--

I should state that if you are not going to do the park during the day + the party, and just enter at 4, then ys it is worth it. you can eaisly get most of the rides done and the christmas party and save some $$$

People without wristbands are allowed to stay on MAIN STREET for the first parade and fireworks ONLY. They may not enter any stores or any lands without a valid wristband as CMs stop everyone and ask to see them. As far as I remember, only Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas was being shown outside of the party.

My opinion is that MVMCP is not worth the extra cost. Having said that, we go to WDW a week before Christmas, and leave the 26th. So we can see the parade, fireworks, Twas the Night Before Christmas show, etc for free in the days leading up to Christmas. When we did attend the party in '07, it was the last one of the year, sold out, and PACKED. Sooo not worth the extra cost. But, if you are going early in December or November and want to see the holiday parade/fireworks, the party would be the only way to do it. In that case, it may be worth it to cough up the extra money for a party ticket. Also, perhaps it was because the party that I went to was sold out, but the CM's were very aggressive in kicking out those guests without wristbands. They checked everyone sitting on Main Street waiting for the early parade, multiple times, for wrist bands. If you didn't have one, you were escorted to the exit.
