is it worth it to pay the 70 some dollars to attend mickey's very merry christmas party? one of my mom's friends just went to disney last december and bought a ticket for the party. she said that there were still people in the park who did not pay for the party and they were allowed to go on the rides and everything. the only thing they got for their 70 dollars that was different from the people still in the park was hot chocolate and sugar cookies. is this correct? we are thinking about planning a trip this december and we really want to go to mvmcp but paying 70 dollars for hot chocolate and sugar cookies sounds crazy! i hope my mom's friend was just confused. :veryconfu

We went in 2007 on a Tuesday night very early in December (I think like the 4th or something). The party was sold out, packed, and miserable. Based on that experience I wouldn't want to go again. I know a lot of people fussed about the events being oversold in 2007 so I was actually interested to see if that was still the case for the 2008 parties.

Soooo, for anyone who went to the 2007 and 2008 MVMCP... Were the parties still oversold in 2008 or did that problem get addressed?

Thanks! And to the OP, go to MVMCP once. Give it a try. It's so hard to gauge what is "worth it" for you by other people's experiences because everyone is different. I wouldn't try to stay over without buying the ticket because you heard you might be able to get by. Better to buy the ticket and not have the added stress of getting busted than to try to eek by hoping you can wing it.

we went early in 2008, dec 7th, and we were denied entrance to the Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show twice before we finally got to see the last show. we probably won't do it again, it was way too crowded last year.

Heading for the great escape.
I was there on Dec 7th I thought it was fine, the crowds were manageable. But then I had been a few days earlier on the DVC discounted night and it was solid human wall from the castle all the way down mainstreet for the fireworks, 15 mins to get hot chocolate and lengthy waits for every attraction.

I'd say go ONCE and then judge for yourself.

Everyone should experiance this party at least once.
I think it's well worth it.

If you do go...stay for the 2nd parade. A LOT of people leave after the first parade so it's not nearly as crowded during the 2nd parade.

We agree. We love MVMCP

We were there on Tues Dec 16 and there was an announcement made that MK would be closing at 7 pm for MVMCP and that the event was sold out. I didn't feel overly crowded in the park after the first parade.

No, because we had been able to see them on the other night. But, and its a big but, (not my wifes) we were only able to see TANBC through sheer luck as we happened to walk by the theatre and were advised by a CM that it was going to be busy and if we wanted to see it to get a seat now. Im sure it was full 20 mins prior to show time.

It was a good show but I wouldnt be doing it this year had we not been going with family who hadnt seen it before. You effectively loose over an hour of the night.

We went to this in early December of this last year and had a great time. For us I think we probably won't return until our baby is old enough to enjoy it. If you have kids....it is great. If you are there without them I would go over to DHS and enjoy the Osborne lights they are fantastic. :xmas:
