Today's news counters the claim Disney doesn't care about Muppets: a new "Muppet Show" special announced for next year with Sabrina Carpenter...in the Muppet Theater. Although I couldn't pick her out of the crowd, I realize that name as one of the biggest, most famous names today...anywhere.

Which I think makes it an even stranger move on Disneys part to close muppetvision. Every thing else they’re doing suggests a return to prominence for the muppets akin to the early to mid 2010s when the muppet movie(2011) came out. So why close one of the most important parts of muppet history as you plan all this?

For the record it's under the 20th century of the company that's helping produce this and they can be a bit more edgy instead of ABC studios.

And we could've had this in the early 00's

I see the tv special with Sabrina as a ploy to market and possibly even introduce the Muppet characters to the age bracket that has an interest in her.
Marketing , pure and simple.

In Disney’s eyes they likely see the Muppets as ‘old fashioned’ and in need of yet another attempt to make them appealing to today’s young generation of Park goers.

The nostalgia throwbacks of this special will rope in the older and original era fans, and Sabrina will attract her own fans and that generation age group.

Marketing ‘genuis’.
Gotta drum up demand or the upcoming coaster overlay and any potential future sales interests.
