Muppet Land!

unfortunately there is not a whole lot of muppet stuff out there because at the moment disney is focusing on bringing other properties into the new millenium. Disney has a lot on their plate with new versions of Mickey and Pooh, the fairies line and suddenly completely owning the entire library of pixar characters. That being said, so many people say they would love muppet stuff but then trashed muppet wizard of oz when it came out and do nothing to support the current muppet products disney IS releasing. If that keeps up, the muppets will definitely die. There is Disney muppet stuff going on, though, and soon much of it will begin to come to light.

Last week a BRAND-NEW disney muppets christmas album was released, with completely new material on it. It's fantastic and if you want to see more great muppet/disney stuff buy this CD! It's called "The Muppets: A Green and Red Christmas". It's cheap on Amazon and itunes, so do it! (p.s. disney won't ruin the muppets and they don't think they need to water the muppets down, come on, The Rock and Con-Air were disney movies for crying out loud!)

Disney is doing at least a little more with the Muppet franchise than most think. It created a muppet stage play with all characters and debuted it on the Disney Wonder's special 10-day cruise this past September. It was very well received and apparently will be part of future cruises on both the Magic and the Wonder.

Slowly, therefore, Disney is testing guest reaction to new creations using the Muppets.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but this is not news or rumors.

I saw the thread title and spit my mouthful of water on my desk and almost flipped back out of my chair. I spent the next 15 minutes cleaning up the water hazard all over my desk. I finally opened the thread and find out it was questions not news. :hammer:

Damn, you almost gave me a heart attack!

I would like to see a Muppet Land or at least more Muppet. Bring back the show.

Muppets. . .

So from what I gather disney just acquired the muppets??? I was hopeful that they also got the rights to The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. I thought it may have been killer to have an attraction based on either of those 2 movies. . .dark crystal maybe a bit too dark but Labyrinth would of been awesome!

The Muppets are my all time favorite characters ever! I feel that Disney is trying to do everything they can, but I think that Disney's humor will not be the same as the muppets used to be. And that's not good for Disney....The humor is the biggest part. I mean if you look at the old Muppet Show..it was hysterical!! I feel that Disney will basically just screw it up, and be a big let-down in some things that they do. But other than that..Disney will make those guys huge!!!!

They have had the rights for a good while now. The rights to the Dark Crystal , which has a sequel in the works by the way, and Labyrinth still lie with Henson.

Heading for the great escape.
I understand that there are several posters on this board going to be offered roles as it will reduce the need for special effects.

Maybe the long awaited 5th park???:lookaroun :) :D

I thought the Harry Potter park was going to the 5th gate and was set to open 2011. That would make the Muppet park the 6th gate. No no no wait, the roller coster park was the 5th gate and that would make Harry Potter the 6th gate and the Muppet Park the 7th AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH forget it! :lookaroun

This is why I hope they don't try to do too much with them. I don't want a Disnefied/watered down version of the Muppets. What they can do however, is finish releasing the rest of the seasons from the original Muppet Show. I have been waiting for Season 2 for almost a year now! (I think it is scheduled to come out in Spring 2007)[/quote]
Amen!

Actually Disney has tune down the movies, there is a Line where Kermit as for a Grasshopper on the bar that Fozzi is performing and on the Disney latest release is not there.

Disney needs to realize that the Muppets are for young adults and adults. not for kids, look at the Original Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight.

They have released everything on DVD and they just did the wizard of oz remake last year. Piggy was on Good morning american a few week s back.

What exactly do you mean by "everything?" I mean, I'm not sure about all of the movies, but the entire series hasn't been released on DVD. Just the first season. And before Disney acquired The Muppets, Columbia/Tristar/Sony relased a bunch of select episodes, but nothing near the whole series.

Here Come the Muppets was a temporary show designed to get the characters into the parks ASAP while the other attractions were still being designed and built. So, it was part of the original deal, just not part of the bigger things that were supposed to happen.
