multivitamins

Not effective in targeting certain diseases. They are good for people who cannot get all the needed vitamins from foods or do not utilize them properly.

Some vitamins have been shown time & again to protect against certain diseases (like Vit C &D) while others they are not so sure about. Just wait until next year when the next study comes out.

I take a multi vitamin as well as Vit D daily (per my doctor's orders).

I should have read it a bit more throughly, hehe. Is it okay to take the multi with other things?

Depends what other things you're talking about. :lookaroun

Most people find they are easiest on the stomach if they are taken with a meal. Some medications and vitamins cannot be taken at the same time, same with the minerals.

I always have...it's not like some medications that can't be mixed with other things. I take a multivitamen along with calcium magnesium, vitamen C, vitamen E, chromium, beta caratene, lecithin, and omega 3...though I had to modify that since I am pregnant...

Normally, no. I'm taking prenatal now because of the little life inside of me :D:D:D. My eye doctor has me take two 1000 mg capsules of fish oil per day because my eyes are so dry. They actually do help. One thing I found about vitamins is that the time of day you take them makes a high difference. If I take a vitamin in the morning, it makes me sick. The evening is fine though.

For the average person, one multivitamin is enough. Some people may have a specific need for additonal intake of specific vitamins and minerals. They may be taken in addition to the multivitamin. Some specific vitamins and minerals should NOT be added to a multivitamin (iron comes instantly to mind; too much can cause medical problems in men) but these should be taken under a physician's directions.

I would just be sure that taking megadoses of any vitamin could not have a harmful side effect before incorporating them into my diet.

over the counter megavitamin every morning with breakfast for me - I switched to the "silver" a few years ago. :lookaroun

I read one time that if you take vitamins in the evening it makes it harder to fall asleep.
