Multiple Charcter Meals; Single Vacation

Anyone ever do more than one character meal during the same trip?

The Crystal Palace was where we traditionally had breakfast before hitting the park when I was a child... a long, long time ago. I haven't been there since they made it a character meal because my folks didn't like the idea. I loved the CP and I REALLY want to go there and see what kind of memories stir up.

I also would like to do Chef Mickey's because I hear so many good things about it and I think my family will like to see the more traditional Disney characters.

If we do both in one week will we get character overload?

Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys have different characters so go for it, you get more time for photos and interaction with the characters in the restaurants.

Have a great time

On one of our trips we did;

Liberty Tree Tavern (When they had characters) Dinner 1st night
Chef' Mickey's Breakfast 3rd morning
Crystal Palace Lunch 4th day
1900 Park Fare Dinner 6th night

It's Disney World you always run into characters, some are Disney characters other unfortunately not, but I digress.

Go for it!

Go for it!! On our upcoming trip we are doing three character meals, Chef Mickey's Donald's Safari Breakfast, and Ohana's character breakfast. We did Crystal Palace last year and loved it. In my opinion you can NEVER have too many character meals.

we do a character meal every day that we are at Disney. It is a great way to do photoes and autographs wth the characters with out having to wait in lines at the parks for them. I find it a great way to kill two birds with one stone as you get to eat and do the greeting at the same time. Also it is a good way to see many of the resorts that have character dining

Crystal Palace is the Winnie the Pooh Gang, while Chef Mickey's in the Mickey, Minnie, goofy, etc... gang.

I prefer Crystal Palace because it's cheaper (if you're not on the DDP) and you get early entry into the park up to the hub and castle

Last year for our CP breakfast, we managed to
a) park in the very first row in the parking lot. I think we were 10th car there.
b) get an entire express monorail to ourselves for the ride over to the MK.
c) get in the MK gates at 7:30am 30 mins before our reservation.
d) Wonder around the land entrances around the hub by ourselves to snap some great "people empty" photographs.

We're going back in September and hope to do the same exactly thing one morning.

But to actually answer the question, there's nothing wrong with doing multiple character meals! Go for it!

I say go for it, too! I love Chef Mickey's, would definitely recommend it.

I am doing dinner at Akershus and dinner at 1900 Park Fare on my trip this fall, both for the first time. And the youngest member of my party is 25! :)

I look at it this way: every other meal I eat outside of WDW is a non-character meal (unless my dining party wishes to be characters themselves...)

Anyhow, what is WDW without character meals?

I, myself, have a bunch scheduled including:
2 at Chef Mickey's (bfast and dinner),
1 at 'Ohana (bfast)
1 at 1900 Park Fare (bfast)
2 at the Crystal Palace (dinner)
and finally, 1 dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table.

Over my 10 day stay, I want to be fully immersed in WDW--including the characters.

I guess it all depends on your level of wanting to see characters vs. not. For me, I spend my time in Chicago dining without characters; thus, making me want to dine 'with' them on vacation.

We're going in June and doing ten character meals. The only one we're skipping is Cape May breakfast at BC, just because it's out of our way. I'm not counting Swan/Dolphin & Ft. Wilderness meals.

This is our first, and according to DH, our only trip to WDW, so I'm making it count by eating & getting pictures & autographs at the same time. We're also on DxDP, so I don't have to deal with the cost of the meals while we're there. If DH can be convinced to go back, maybe we'll stay at BC and catch that last character meal!

Last trip we did Donald's Safari Breakfast, Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace all in the one trip and didn't find it too much over the 14 days we were there.

This trip we will be doing 1900 park fare, Chef Mickeys & Cinderella Royal Table. We've also got Chefs De France hopefully with Remy if he's still there. We going for 16 nights so there's plenty of other choices mixed in.

Same here. I like character dining because I feel like the time with the characters isn't as rushed. At a normal meet and greet, I always feel like we gotta move because their is somebody behind us.

And with the character dining sometimes the characters even come around more than once so you get a little extra time with them.

Oh yes - my DH and I do more then one each trip. Usually - we do 3 or 4. It is not character overload in my opinion - it is killing two birds with one stone. We want to see Pooh and Friends and you can do it before the park opens having a great bfast! And they are fun too.

Character dining...the more, the better! If you can stand the noise and craziness, that is. :) I had this debate with someone once. They say character dining isn't fair because it removes the characters from the parks and makes it hard for families without the money to do the character dining to see characters. I disagree. People that character dine usually avoid the lines for characters in the parks. This makes the wait time less for others. I still see plenty of characters in the parks. Anyway, your question was about how much is too much? As long as you like the Disney buffets, as much as you can handle. I do suggest a couple of "adult" meals on the trip. However, if you have kids, they are only little once. Enjoy the characters with them while you can.

We always end up with multiple character meals. I do enjoy Pooh and his friends at CP because you don't see them just anywhere and they are my favorites. When traveling with my family, Chef Mickey's is a must. We have one less now that the characters are gone from Liberty Tree.
