What ever happened to the plans for the Mt. Fuji ride at Japan pavillion, and also the Russia pavilion? Saw these "proposed" attractions on an old Disney tv special that aired back in the 90s.

I think Epcot could really, really use a roller coaster. Hell, AK, which is usually criticized for not having as many rides, has two for Pete's sake. Either a Mt. Fuji coaster, or perhaps a Godzilla themed coaster (Well hey, WSC is about cultures of other nations, and monsters/kaiju are apart of Japan's culture, so...)

Wasn't one thing with the Mt. Fuji coaster was due to its name, as Kodak is the sponsor?
Either way, it never got off the ground.

As for Russia, I had heard for the longest time (1990) that it'll come, but nothing has been announced yet.

Perhaps this is the BIG thing in that one thread about something coming. :lookaroun

No. No it does not need a rollercoaster. That is not what EPCOT is about.

That's a a rumor that's been debunked for a long time.

Well Mt. Fuji was going to be sponsered by Fuji Film and Kodak already sponsered WDW so thats was probley the main reason also money and space but anyway it turned into Everest at Animal Kingdom and Russia got shelfed. Russia's concept art looked amazing, I wish it was done.

Again. Not true. All rumors.

I heard (I do not know whether this is true or not, just what I have heard) that Russia never got off the drawing board because the US figured out what Joseph Stalin had done during the Cold War to millions of people during the Soviet era. In 1990, the Soviet Union was still around, weak, and would collapse in 1991. Thus you got Russia. I don't think WDW wanted to be associated with mass-killings at the time (But still this has a cast of doubt on it, Germany anyone? People don't really know the difference between Nazi-Germany and Germany and associate them as the same.)

That's interesting. Although Russia would be a great addition to WS.

It would've been cool, and I guess that's counter-productive with the vision they have for Disney World?

I am DYING for a new Epcot pavillion.

I remember when this sign was up, but I could see why there could be some HUGE security issues if this had made it past planning:
