What ever happened to the plans for the Mt. Fuji ride at Japan pavillion, and also the Russia pavilion? Saw these "proposed" attractions on an old Disney tv special that aired back in the 90s.
I think Epcot could really, really use a roller coaster. Hell, AK, which is usually criticized for not having as many rides, has two for Pete's sake. Either a Mt. Fuji coaster, or perhaps a Godzilla themed coaster (Well hey, WSC is about cultures of other nations, and monsters/kaiju are apart of Japan's culture, so...)
Wasn't one thing with the Mt. Fuji coaster was due to its name, as Kodak is the sponsor?
Either way, it never got off the ground.
Well Mt. Fuji was going to be sponsered by Fuji Film and Kodak already sponsered WDW so thats was probley the main reason but anyway it turned into Everest at Animal Kingdom and Russia got shelfed. Russia's concept art looked amazing, I wish it was done.
Jim Hill has some concept art here: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_h...-coming-the-russians-are-coming-to-epcot.aspxAnyone know where I could see the Russian pavillion concept art?

I heard (I do not know whether this is true or not, just what I have heard) that Russia never got off the drawing board because the US figured out what Joseph Stalin had done during the Cold War to millions of people during the Soviet era. In 1990, the Soviet Union was still around, weak, and would collapse in 1991.
Good idea, but the pavilion was still proposed in 1993. Open before 2000.In 1990, the Soviet Union was still around, weak, and would collapse in 1991. Thus you got Russia.
Indeed.I am DYING for a new Epcot pavillion.
I remember when this sign was up, but I could see why there could be some HUGE security issues if this had made it past planning:
Indeed.
In 1978 or so...There was a Iran Pav. too.:lookaroun:lol:
Heh!They should have added it, It's a known fact Disney won't let America start any more Wars with countries they've already added to World Showcase.
:lookaroun
