MSEP ending at Disneyland on Sept 1, WDW return in 2023?

I love the MSEP and would be happy to have it back at WDW (over the nothing that is there now), but if TDO were going to go to the trouble of shipping a parade from Anaheim, why in the world would it not be PTN, which is superior and would be new for the resort?

Someone please put that parade out of its misery. It’s time to build new modern floats…use the same music if necessary.
I grew up on the MSEP and was really happy my daughters got to see it.

That being said: I'm with you. It's time has long since passed. How many "final performances" can you have?

Of course, packing it up and sending it to WDW would cost money. People are still piling in at the gates. Nothing really needs to be done, there.

Well, in all honesty, The Rolling Stones have been giving final tours and performances for like 20 years now…

I have to say I’m really surprised by all the hate. People here typically adore the equally hokey Electrical Water Pageant, so such opposition to the return of its more elaborate land-based counterpart makes no sense to me. I for one would be delighted to have it back.
I think the difference between MSEP and the EWP is that one comes with opportunity cost. The Water Pageant is a delightful little relic from another time that Disney could pull at any moment with very little complaints from guests (outside from superfans on message boards). It's a marvel that it's lasted this long, and I always smile when I see it. There's also very little that they can do to update it. Also, you can see the Water Parade anywhere on the lagoon, so you really don't need to pay to experience it. Whereas with MSEP, defaulting back to that comes at the cost of receiving something new and innovative. People (used to) come to WDW excited about the nighttime parades and fireworks. These should be top tier attractions, always growing and developing. While the recent additions to the MSEP were nice, the Magic Kingdom deserves something fresh, and something unique to it's own park imo.

-It is 50 years old, it’s literally just Christmas lights on hastily put together wooden cutouts, that have not been meaningfully upgraded or given new effects
-The costumes are also 50 years old and feature multiple old versions of zoo characters that aren’t on model anymore
-The floats were designed for DLs narrow streets and look woefully small at MK
-Lighting technology has advanced by leaps and bounds since this debuted let’s get a parade that utilizes it.

In summary, I quote Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr: “It belongs in a museum!”
Look on the bright side, you can ride Peter Pan during the parade.
Unless you hate Peter Pan for being too old too?

Well you could always jump on to TRON during the parade IF TRON ever gets done 😉

Do you long for WDW to bring back America on parade? Festival of Fantasy is far too gaudy and new.

What’s to say the alternative to its return is something new and innovative rather than nothing at all? And why is new and innovative necessarily preferable to time-honoured and charming?
I mean, you're obviously not wrong seeing as how WDW has been running since 2016 without a nighttime parade. 😅

I think MSEP could be seen as "time-honored" and "charming" the second and third time it was brought back to Orlando, but it's really starting to push it with a fourth time. Unfortunately it's starting to feel stale and skippable to many guests, especially when new nighttime parades are debuting around the world constantly. Maybe I'd feel more open to a MSEP return if Orlando's last original nighttime parade didn't debut in 1991. I just think Orlando deserves it's own unique show. Save the inevitable return until the parade starts being missed.

I agree, they've just brought this one back too often at this point for it to seem like anything special. It's just beginning to seem tired and lazy. I'd personally be happy if they just drove it into the sea so we could stop seeing breathless announcements about its return every few years.

As for the Electric Water Pageant, that is more just a little detail that Disney thankfully hasn't cut after all these years and the sort of thing you are likely to stumble upon while at one of the resorts or coming and going from MK. If they kept taking it away and bringing it back as though it was a new offering, I think people would also be rolling their eyes at the prospect of another triumphant return of the Electric Water Pageant.

I understand your point, but I’m still surprised that some would prefer no nighttime parade to MSEP. I can’t see who wins in that scenario.

It's been long overdue on WDW gaining it's own electrical parade since Spectromagic ended.

Obviously, I am off a different generation. I would LOVE to see MSEP return to WDW! It was the first nighttime parade I experienced and FAR superior to Spectro.
As I have said many, many times. MSEP is Best because of the music. Spectro's music is a waltz. Count it out. A waltz is NOT a parade song.
I would love a new parade with appropriate music. Given that we have nothing at the moment, I would welcome Spectro back if they rebuilt it.
But a return of MSEP would probably result in an attempt to aquire whatever annual pass they are selling at this instant, if there is any.

But I must also agree with the above that the most likely outcome is Absolutely Nothing!

To be fair, the Imagineers who worked on Spectromagic descirbed the parade as "The Anti-Main Street Electrical Parade" by making it more grander, unique, and told a story (hints the orchestrated music playing a big part). Instead of just being a series of floats to a Disney Animated Film.

From what I’ve seen, unless it’s the tag that says DL, there’s very little merch that says DL. If it’s at the wrong park, then they messed up by thousands of miles. It’s more likely WDW was in desperate need of merchandise than a screw up of that magnitude. But, since the merchandise situation has been getting better, I think it’s most likely they plan on moving the MSEP to WDW and simply made enough merch for both coasts, knowing they would move it.

I know they missed by a few thousand miles, but they messed up a ton of inventory this year/end of last year.

here is what the back of the dooney ears sold at WDW look like:

I could seriously see wdw getting this parade back as damage control for the 50th and genie+ disaster

MSEP going east and Disneyland or DCA gets PTN back with some changes, maybe a new float or two. That’s my prediction.

And they will say something like WDW will finish off it’s golden Anniversary with the return of a Glittering Disney Classic, also celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
Then they will convert the already released MSEP merchandise to say Walt Disney World.
