Moving Marvel rides from Universal to Hollywood Studios?

Just wondering, and please forgive my naiveness - do you think this dude is just a big ol' liar, or do CM's sometimes just like to stir the pot? haha...I mean, i would totally do that If i could !

Yes some cast members like to have fun with things like that. I knew one cast member who would tell people that Cinderella's castle was on hydraulics and was lowered down into the tunnel every night for cleaning. A surprisingly large number of people actually believed it.

true. Uni would retheme these rides before they would agree to move them to a rival theme park.
They'd rename it "Spider Person's Scary Ride" and add a moustache to Spidey before they sell it.

Disney should fire CMs for spreading such information. It is called fraud. It may seem like just a little friendly misinformation, but knowingly spreading false information to a consumer is considered fraud, which is illegal (though I doubt the authorities care...prosecuting Disney for saying Cinderalla Castle is cleaned at night by hummingbirds isn't high on a list of priorities). I know Six Flags was adamant about misinformation, and actually was known to discipline employees for spreading false information to guests. Though that didn't stop maintenance from spreading false information about new rides to other employees. Depending on who you know, you'd be surprised at how well-informed employees can be. Rides employees were almost always accurate about new rides (since they had to actually staff the ride), entertainment would always be accurate about new shows, etc.

Hi all - long time lurker. Just about 5 minutes ago, my coworker who just came back from WDW heard a rumor and i had to sign up! Sorry if you guys have heard this already, or if its confirmed, but if not, I wanted to make sure I shared!

When he was at Hollywood Studios he said that there was some construction going on, and he asked one of the CMs what it was for, and he said they told him they would be moving 3 of the rides from Universal (the Marvel ones) to HS. Then - he said he went to Universal a few days later and those rides the CM mentioned were closed down.

Don't know how reliable this dude is, but if he's telling the truth, that cant be a coincidence, right??

I'll be a little nicer than most. Universal owns the rides, even if Disney now owns the characters. There is -100% chance that Universal sells the ride systems to Disney... their primary Orlando competitor.

Cast member rumors are absolutely... completely... unreliable. The average cast member who is not upper management or WDI has no inside information on the future plans for any of the parks.

My grandfather works at Disney. He does numerous stuff from walking behind the parade or at the turnstyles. but a little girl went up to him and asked him about the wire coming from cinderella's castle. he told her that was the cable so the prince could watch espn. lol.

Actually, it's a trade: Cinderella's Castle for the Marvel rides.
They're going to shut down I-4 for two months over the summer while they transport the attractions.

If there's anything we can get out of this, it's that your friend and that CM possibly have created one of the craziest rumors ever!

I can just imagine 20 helicopters air lifting Hulk, all in once piece, sidewalk and all, over to Hollywood Studios...

If you use definition #1 as the principle definition...sure, lying about rides being moved from Uni to WDW, or the castle being on hydraulics, or monorails being built to every resort or what have you is deceitful, I'm not sure if it's technically fraudulent. Because, aside from chucks and giggles, nothing is really gained from the lie. And certainly from a legal standpoint, it'd be impossible to claim "fraud," unless the person who convinced you their lie was the truth somehow profited or got something from duping you. If, for example, I convinced you that rides were being moved from uni to WDW, and I so happened to have a transportation company and I was trying to convince you my company would be the one moving those rides and you bought a lot of stock in my company as a result of that lie, maybe you'd have a case. A hard-to-prove case since our conversation wasn't on the record (unless you recorded our conversations, or I implicated myself in emails or something like that).

Long story short, it sucks if you're the butt of someone's joke, but it's not fraud.

My friends and I in Fantasyland use to say the same thing! Probably just coincidence, however we did mention Cinderella had an online shoe habit, so it works out for both of them.

You wouldn't need 20. Maybe that's what that SuperCrane I saw at Area 51 is for.

Your friend not only said that the rides were closed, but that he went to IOA and saw the rides closed as well to back up the story... clearly it's not the CM stirring a pot.

Your friend is just flat out lying.

Yep, it would be known if three of the four attractions on Marvel Super Hero Island were closed.

Dude, do you have to make everything about the law? I think everyone gets it by now: you're an attorney or you go to law school. You've 'proven' that time and time again by flexing your knowledge. It gets a bit old when even innocuous topics get legal spins put on them.

I hope you're right, Tom.

If you just called him an attorney and he's not that could be construed as libel! :lookaroun
