Movie Help!!!!!

I'm hoping someone can help me with this... I remember a movie that showed several times on the Disney Channel when I was young, possibly late '80s to early '90s. The movie was animated and was about a dog chracter, I think his name was Oliver? Anyway he found a dragon and decided to keep him an raise him, of course when the dragon got bigger, it caused him some grief and he had to put it back.... (long sad part where both are lonely), then I thik he rescued the dragon? Who knows! I've searched multiple things, "Oliver's Dragon," "Oliver and the Dragon," Can anyone help with this?

Sounds like a combination of Oliver and Company (animated movie version of Oliver Twist, in which Oliver is a cat who joins a gang of dogs), and Pete's Dragon (live action movie in which a boy named Pete has a pet Dragon named Elliott that is alternatively invisible or rendered in animated form).

Yep... sounds like "Pete's Dragon." I absolutely adored that movie when I was younger!

Hey kinda off subject but has anyone else noticed the scene with Mickey Rooney talking about the dragon in the bar seems to be copied in Beauty and the Beast where the Maurice comes in and they make fun of him?

I have no idea, but assuming that this is an actuall thing, have you tried going to www.retrojunk.com? They have a lot of random stuff on there. :shrug:

I am not sure what you are thinking of.

Was the entire movie animated? If so, it would not be Pete's Dragon. In Pete's Dragon only Elliot the dragon is animated. The rest of the characters are live action. Pete doesn't raise the dragon in Pete's Dragon. Elliot comes to him already grown and immediately causing trouble.

Well, I'm insulted that you might think I wouldn't know Pete's Dragon! haha... JK, but I found the movie, it's called "The Dragon that Wasn't (Or Was He.)" Apparently a dutch animated movie that was released here in 1987. The Master is a bear, not a dog but is named Oliver and has a butler that's a dog, look it up, if you watched Disney Channel as a youngster I know you'll remember it. Thanks anyway.

It's from the Babar, Adventures in Wonderland, Dumbo's Flying Circus and Welcom to Pooh Corner days of the DC... before the Teeny-bopper circus it is now.

This sounds like the movie Dragonworld. Where a young boy lives with his grandparents in an old castle where he befriends a little dragon. When he get's older there was this man who wanted to capitalize on the dragon & castle and make a theme park called Dragonworld..

I remember those good old days. Back when the programing was really worth watching.

I looked up "The Dragon that Wasn't (Or Was He.)" It sounds about right for an 80's movie. Very bizarre plot when you read it. I think I vaguely remember it though.
