Will Flynn Rider sign autographs with "Eugene Fitzherbert"?

My 2 year-old is very insistent that he be called "Eugene" and not "Flynn Rider", and my hunch is he will want his autograph booked signed accordingly.

So, will this be a possibility?

I imagine if you stress "Eugene" and let them know that is what is expected, that is how they will sign.

I think it is so cute your 2 year old says Eugene Fitzherbert! :)

I don't know the answer to your question BUT I find it absolutely adorable that your 2 year old only refers to him as Eugene. Love this. I'm guessing that when your 2 year old calls him "Eugene" he will probably have something to say about it that should let you know how he feels about it. I'd even say to him "she would love if you signed your real name" or something. I've heard of people asking Mary Poppins to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and could do it. I believe the characters really brush up on the history.

I think it has to do with Rapunzel

Rapunzel calls him Eugene exclusively in the movie after he lets that slip out to her, and I think that is why my son does it. He is almost literally in love with Rapunzel. A couple of weeks ago, we were goofing around and I asked, "who's prettier, Mommy, or Rapunzel?" ......."Rapunzel!!!!!"

My wife was not amused.

:p

Hey iubigman!

So I was very curious what the answer to this question was myself so I asked one of my friends who is a character attendant. He said that he will only sign as Flynn Rider because technically Rapunzel is the only one that knows his real name is Eugene. Since he tells her in secret in the movie no one would really know that that's his name.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on that one. :(

It really depends on the day. My DD has one of his signed Eugene, but we had to promise not to tell anyone that was his real name. :lookaroun But we have seen them so much now that she calls him Uncle Fitzi. So I say try and see what happens.

I agree just ask. The characters are only in clothes costume unlike Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse in a full on suite. So they can hear better and can write a lot easier. My friend had Cinderella write Happy Birthday to her daughter in her book. So I think you have a good chance!

It is certainly always worth asking. I just didn't want you to get your child's hopes up if it is something that isn't likely to happen so I figured I'd ask a reliable source for you. Signature training is a big part of entertainment training and it is very likely that unless they can be sure that every time Flynn signs Eugene it is exactly the same than he won't sign it at all. Those that said he signed Eugene must have had the experience with a very experienced performer and that's why you got the signature. They're sometimes is a little more liberty in what they do and he probably did it as a "magical moment" of sorts. In general according to my friend (who works with Rapunzel and Flynn weekly at MK) he is only allowed to sign as Flynn.

That being said, my theory in Disney has and will always be, "just ask...you never know what might happen." So I'd be interested to see what your experience is when you're down there. =)

Side note: When you do go meet them, get there early and be prepared for long lines. They are piloting a new type of character meet and greet experience which is more interactive than the ones with the other princesses which means you get to spend more time with them when it's your turn but you also have to wait longer to meet her. Just FYI. =)

Definitely be prepared for long waits! I was there in May and the wait times were averaging 3 hours...no joke. Parents were waiting in shifts. They were coming out every hour I believe. I'm not sure how long they stayed out each time. I just wanted to get a photo of them so I went about 10 min. before they were scheduled to come out and stood by the roped off area. I was able to get some great shots with my zoom lens. Good luck!

I thought that I saw somewhere that Flynn will still appear at the special ticket events?

I had another thought too...what if your child is dressed as Rapunzel? (My 5 yr old wants to dress as Rapunzel for dinner at the castle at MVMCP. It would be appropriate for him to sign as Eugene then, wouldn't it?

We asked in May and were told he only signs as Flynn. Who knows if some Flynns might bend the rules a bit though...but now that he's gone, I guess it doesn't matter. :(

Bummer! I hope they reconsider and bring him back! My 5 year old son LOVES Tangled, and often makes me put a blanket on my head like it's long hair, and dance around like Rapunzel. He's always Pascal, and my husband has to be Flynn Rider. :) We'll be there in late August, and he was very excited about meeting them.
