What is the most expensive ride ever built in WDW? I heard it was TOT. Does anyone know the cost to build for TOT? Some sites say it took $175 million to build it. Is this true?

Mission:Space was about $220 million in disclosed costs

I don't think ToT was that expensive. Freefall rides aren't.

By comparison, Everest is in the $75 million range.

I heard that E.E and MS both cost around $100 million but the TOT in CA took only $75 million to build.

No. Like I said, M:S has disclosed costs of $220 million. The cost is slightly higher, because one of the private companies that developed the ride system doesn't disclose its costs.

Everest is going to cost about $75 million when done.

I can't see ToT costing $75m, because freefall rides don't cost that much. I could see $50m, but thats being generous and giving about $20-25m to theming.

what are the lines like at M:S?? I went at Christmas time and it was bogged down (like every other ride), but when I went during spring break I got on 3 staight times. That being said was it worth the money spent?

I think maybe the first ToT ride and ride system took a bit more to develope than the one in DL because it was a first and I thought I had heard somewhere that EE was going to be the most expensive ride ever built by Disney, but don't take my word on it.

From what I understand, Test Track cost $300 million after all of the construction and safety problems. I could be wrong. It seems like SSE would be expensive because of all the structural aspects, but I do not know the cost.

EE is the most expensive rollercoaster. At an estimated $75 million, it will be the most expensive in the world.

Could you post a link to where Disney discloses how much they spend on developing rides, I’m sure it’s fascinating to see how costs have skyrocketed over the years. Also I’m curious to see it because I didn’t think even the stock holders (and my son is one) had access to that information.

Ya...I heard from Disney that E.E would be its most expenisve project ever. And it even says $100 million in every site I've checked.

Lines are shorter than whatever TT and Soarin have at the time.

The "extremity" of the attraction is what hurts it.

But, Disney did get a lot of good things from it:

1. A new ride system, used only once, that they own completely. (Pending the ligitation, but Disney is going to win that)
2. A ride that replaced an attraction that had to be removed because the structure was unsound. So a ride in place of what would have been an empty spot.
3. A ride that is modular and can be fitted with new sequences, and therefore can survive for a long time to come.

So yes, looks to me like its worth it. If you look at, say, Everest, it may cost about one-third of the M:S cost, but its always going to be the same attraction, from day one to day one million. M:S doesn't have to be. So if they change the sequence a few different times, say four, like they've done with ToT, then they've spent about $250 million (factoring the cost of adding the sequences) for four different experiences. Which is $62.5m per experience, for the mathematically challenged. Thats far cheaper than building four different attractions. Yes, the different sequences would be similar, but who would say AE and SGE count as the same attraction?
