Most expensive Disney rides built

Standard expense for a new ride these days seems to float around the $100 million mark. I don't claim to have inside information but Midway Mania, the Little Mermaid and Everest all seemed to cost right around that much. I imagine Paris' Ratatouille and Hong Kong's Mystic Manor will cost a pretty penny, as both will presumably combine Little Mermaid-style dark ride aspects with much more sophisticated ride systems.

Sorry to call you out @marni1971, but I was wondering if you had any figures on what, presumably, are more economical attractions. What do rides like Pooh (MK or DL), Epcot's Nemo ride, the Monsters Inc. redo at DCA, or the average 3D movie cost these days? I'm just curious if rides like those cost Disney the same outrageous numbers or if they can be done for less.

EE was $100 million
Mission Space $100 million
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - $150 million
Radiator Racers - $300 million

Oz The Great and Powerful - $225 million
The last Pirates movie was over $300 million

Racers wasn't 300 million, it was more around 200.

And I remember being told a short while ago that once adjusted for inflation ToT is more than Everest making it the most expensive in WDW.

It's scary talking about cost. The Disney way of doing it is so overinflated the true cost and value of attractions is far more than it should be.

Alien Encounter was 35-40 million for example. There were big decor changes, a few AAs, actors to pay, movies to shoot but really? Nothing major needed to be built structurally. In 91-2 the MK got a whole Splash Mountain complex for that.

Potterland AND Forbidden Journey came in under the single cost of Racers. I believe the Seas makeover was in the 30 million area. For less than three times of that you're getting Transformers. A clone, yes, but that included building design and construction, ride system and vehicles, ride control, props, projectors, and demo of the existing structures.

My most expensive ride was in 2008 when my Cadillac decided to blow two head gaskets while I was in Kissimmee. It cost me $3500.00 just to get back to Vermont (plus gas and a blown tire near Daytona) For my budget $3500.00 in Disney money would be around $1.3 million.

Radiator Springs Racers is the most expensive, nearly $350mil.
Everest is second.
Tower of Terror (DHS) and Mission:Space battle for third, depending in who you ask.

If you include international parks, ToT at DisneySea would be second.
MS was $100 million. TZTOT was $150 million. TZTOT wins hands down! No comparison! Everest was $100 million, making TZTOT #2.

We need time for things to happen.

These two bits of info are interesting. What's the reasoning here? What the h*ll is Disney doing that's skewing these numbers so greatly when Uni is putting in world class rides\lands at half the cost.

In another DHS revamp rumor thread I was feeling bad because the number 500 Million was being thrown around and it seemed measly to me...now I'm reading this and I'm not feeling bad anymore.
