Most Disappointing Meal in WDW?

Oh, yeah, I forgot. We had a bad experience at Tony's as well. I didn't like the food, it was jam packed and the staff was overwhelmed: I overheard an angry guest yelling at a manager about his meal and the manager was trying to explain, it was pretty bad. I don't think we will be trying it again anytime soon.

Tony's for us as well. I thought it was very overpriced and well the food wasnt hot really seemed like it had been sitting around for a while

yes, you get what you pay for... but the QS at Blizzard Beach was horrid. As the post above said, the buffet at Hollywood and Vine wasnt that great.

the dessert was good though

Count me in too. Tony's! The food was not prepared well at all! On the plus side the air conditioning was nice and my gelato was yummy! :slurp:

I think it was even more frustrating because we had a similar situation happen at the Crystal Palace a few days before, but once we told our waiter, they had a CM come and take us around to meet the Characters. I know that sometimes things just get messed up and everything will not always be perfect so I give most places the benifet of the doubt when things go wrong once or twice. I just felt like at the Crystial Palace they moved quickly to fix the situation, and at 1900 they just didn't care.

But see the problem with this, is that the CM shouldn't have done that. The characters have a rotation they follow, and every once in a while, they'll skip a family- sometimes it's because the waiter is at the table ordering, they see that the kids have gone to the bathroom, there's another character already at the table, the kids are having a food fight, etc, and sometimes it's just plain an accident. If they intentionally skip though, then they will remember and go back to that table when they have a chance. If it was an accident though, the best thing is to simply notify the CM (not necessarily the waiter/waitress- they might not always convey the message), and then the CM will tell the character. If the CM takes a family to a character though, 1) it interrupts the family that the character was with at that time, and 2) it acts like an open invitation, and other families will simply walk over to the character and before you know it, a line has formed by the table......

oh and i'm not saying that your family did anything wrong- it was the CM who brought you guys over- just letting you know why that wasn't what happened at 1900....

San Angel Inn was terrible even though the atmosphere was awesome & The Whispering Canyon for us.

Not the Whispering Canyon!!! I have read so many positive experiences for that restaurant, and I have ADRs for it in October. Do I need to re-think this restaurant for dinner? Hopefully, your experience is an exception and most people enjoy their meals there.

With no offense intended to the original poster, threads like this one do little except to distort the guest satisfaction records of particular restaurants because if you read through every post, a first time visitor or casual guest may come across thinking certain restaurants are awful and you can't get a good meal there.

In reality, each restaurant at WDW serves hundreds of people each day, most of whom are satisfied and have no particular thoughts that their meal was the worst of the trip.

The same is true of certain hotels. If you read the reviews, the 99% of people who had an uneventful or pleasant stay never say anything and the 1 person who had a problem makes it look to the hundreds of people who read the thread that if you stay at X hotel, your stay will be miserable.

That said, my answer is pretty obvious. The food at WDW (or all of Orlando even) rarely wins major culinary awards, but overall, there aren't really any restaurants at WDW that are so crummy that everyone should avoid them.

(in my opinion, of course :) )

I can't believe how many people had a bad experience at Tony's. I enjoyed myself there in May 07'. My food was well prepared, and the service was great. I'm planning on eating there on September 18th for lunch. I wonder if I should cancel it? I'd say the worst dinning experience is THE PLAZA in MK. That place is like a closet, and I don't think they even have bathrooms.

I think that, to some degree, the Disney Dining Plan encourages mediocre restaurants.

People on the plan need Table Service reservations and, if all the good restaurants are already filled, then they go ahead and eat at the bad ones. Were they not on the dining plan they would have skipped them and used counter service places.
The Disney Dining Plan keeps the bad restaurants supplied with customers.

IMHO.

To us, CRT was not worth the price. We had breakfast there, and it just wasn't worth the cost. If it were the same cost as other breakfasts, it would be okay...

San Angel Inn was also disappointing. Of course, I live in Texas, and there are probably 100 places within a 20 mile radius that I can get good Tex-Mex food. The atmosphere is cool, but I doubt we'll eat there again (assuming we get to go to WDW again).

I think it might have just been our experience because everyone does rave about it...the hotel lobby was amazing & the atmosphere of the restaurant was good, it was really good for kids. They entertain the kids & it is loud in there. We just didn't like the food, and it is served family style so it was a lot for just 2 people. I don't think you should change your reservation based on one bad review.

Our most disappointing meal on our last visit was lunch at CRT. The food was not very good and the services was TERRIBLE. Though we did have one of the last seatings for lunch, but it still shouldn't be an excuse for such extremely bad service.

How was it bad service. where they slow at bringing drinks? Or what happend

Coral Reef.
Sci-fi dine in was less then satisfaction.

I didn't really like it. The same clips played over and over again. It was pricy for small portions. I had their chicken ceaser salad which came dry...twice. Like rubber.

I couldn't agree more with you on Sci-fi... went there in 2006, it was okay, and my sis loved it, so we went again in November, and I just didn't like it. The menu is horrible, they play the same thing over and over on the screen. It would be cool if they played disney movies all throughout the day, there are so many of them.

But I guess it took us going back and trying it again to finally realize that we won't be coming back again to sci-fi.

The San Angel Inn. The food was horrible and the tea was awful. I had to ask for a glass of water.

I've never had a bad time at Sci-Fi. My food has always been good and I think the film loops every 45 minutes. So, if you've watched it more than twice, you've had a long lunch.

i have to agree that the sci fi cafe is less than impressive. the menu in my opinion is horrible and i think that they should play something different on the screen to keep people entertained.

Another of my least favorites is the fantasmic meal at the brown derby. i was expecting alot more from the food as I am a graduate of the culinary insitute of america, i was not pleased.

I did enjoy tonys the first time i went in 06 though! they had newlyweds rolling meatballs to eachother with their noses! lol

however, you cannot please everyone which is why disney has so many options when it comes to dining!
