News Morocco Pavilion redevelopment

Epcot has been in a state of limbo from transitioning to old school Epcot to IPcot. For me personally, I think the transition is too far gone into IPcot at this point that they might as well.

It’d make just as much sense as Frozen in Norway so might as well.
It really wouldn't. Frozen was based on Norwegian settings and culture, and the Norwegian tourist bureau also used Frozen to promote tourism to the country after the film was released. Aladdin has nothing to do with Morocco.

This would make about as much sense as opening a Mary Poppins ride in The American Adventure.

Now that it's been acquired by Disney, The Simpsons could make this possible. ;)

Not really. Arendelle’s look was explicitly based on Norway, whereas Agrabah’s wasn’t based on Morocco.
It was heavily inspired, though. But even then, you read too much into it. Arendelle is fictional. Agrabah is fictional. Therefore it’s basically the same. No generic disney tourist is reading that into it.

Again. Reading way too much into it. There are lots of Moroccan elements in both the animated and live action version of the film to justify disney putting Aladdin in Morocco just as much as they justify putting Frozen in Norway.

The fanboys on these forums will be upset for about a year and accept it later. Simple as that. Lol

What was heavily inspired? The architecture of Agrabah by Morocco? If that’s the claim you’re making, you’re mistaken. [ETA: At least in relation to the animated movie, which is the one I know best. But even if the live action version has more Moroccan inspiration, it’s woven into an Eastern hodgepodge that does not read as Moroccan overall.]

And I don’t care about the “generic Disney tourist”. If that’s who Disney was catering to, they would never have built something like World Showcase to begin with.

Correction: the generation that DID build world showcase didn’t cater to the generic disney tourist. Now they do.

For the record: I’m on your side. I’ve just lost the motivation to defend oldschool Epcot at this state in its life. It’s over and I’ve accepted it. As sad as it is.

So give me Aladdin: a musical spectacular.

Truth be told, while I wouldn't welcome such an attraction, nor would I be outraged by it—so long as it was indoors and had no effect on the pavilion's architecture or ambience. The main point I was trying to make is that Agrabah in Morocco isn't equivalent to Arendelle in Norway; it represents another (and significantly larger) step away from the host country and into the realm of fantasy.

Instead of messing with country pavilions that already stand on their own and seem full (I personally like Morocco as it is), what about considering bringing back to life old WS proposals of years past which were unfortunately shelved?

The Matterhorn that was once planned for a Swiss Pavilion which sadly never saw the light of day?

The Cool Runnings family bobsled ride planned for the Canada pavilion?

The Mt. Fiji themed mountain coaster once planned for Japan? This one I can see why is off the table permanently, since it would resemble EE so closely in design. Still would be nice if it were added.

And wasn't there a indoor boat ride planned once for Germany? Any of these would be better (imo) than messing with Morocco.

I agree that Morocco as it stands is already a very fleshed out and immersive pavilion. It doesn't need any additions.
