Morimoto Asia coming to 'The Landing' district of Disney Springs in 2015

when you have a restaurant this size and you are serving Asian cuisine (something not all American's eat), you need to appeal to the masses as much as possible.
While keeping the menu somewhat safe is expected, "the masses" also include adventurous foodies who don't want the same thing they can get at PF Changs or Nine Dragons but in a more modern setting. It'd behoove them to keep both elements of their clientele in mind.

Eh, the place isn't open yet. I'm sure once they get their footing they'll experiment with different, less "safe" menu items to help round things out a bit more.

Or at least we can hope.

I'm surprised (and disappointed) that there is no omakase on the menu! When I lived in NJ we would go into NYC to eat at Morimoto's for special occasions. We did it specifically for the omakase, as you get a taste of everything and some very unique dishes that Chef Morimoto is always updating. Very sad now, as I was really looking forward to having one of his restaurants in Orlando! I guess I will try to hold on to hope that maybe the sushi area has its own menu with omakase on it!

Yea, that menu is way to "Safe" but... doesn't matter the place is going to be packed no matter what the menu is. At least for the first couple years.

It's not a real sushi bar without omakase. :)

I bet that will be available.

Have the walls come down around this area yet or are they removing them tonight?

Also do you know if anything special was planned today for the first day of the name change to Disney Springs?
There is a name changing moment this evening, and a press preview of Morimoto. So as many walls as possible will be down, but it still lines the construction area, so there will still be some walls.

There won't be a lunch for the first couple of weeks, or the weekend brunch. So opening is from 5pm until further notice.

There's a comment on Morimoto Asia's facebook page that says "No Omakase at this time". That makes it sound like they are planning on rolling it out in the future. It seems like they are trying to roll things out slowly to make sure they don't fall flat on their face. i.e. not offering lunch or brunch to start with, but it will be available in the near future.
