Counting down to our first trip to DW during Christmas!! Have decided to go to MVMCP either Friday the fourth or Sunday the sixth. (trip Dec 3-7). Any suggestions which night or does it matter? Also, is everything open during the event?? Places to eat? Attractions?? or should we eat dinner before then go?
Any other suggestions?? I'm sure I'll think of more questions soon! thanks for any help :xmas:

This link has a ton of information, including a list of what attractions and restaurants are open during the party.

We're going 12/8 and since the party starts at 7 but we can get in at 4, I'm hoping to go to a late lunch/early dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge before heading over to the MK.

I would think Friday night would be better since the people arriving Friday night or Saturday might be wanting to go on Sunday.
My thought would be just the opposite, as more "locals" will probably go on Friday or Saturday but not on Sunday as they would most likely be going to work on Monday.

I agree with Painter, I would go on a Sunday to avoid the locals who tend to come in for parties on the weekends. Also as far as stuff being open, a lot of the regular park attractions are open but I would tell you to do that on a "regular" day. During the party there are events that are going on that are ONLY done during the party which I would make it a point to see/do before anything else. I adore the parade, the special fireworks, the specially themed stage shows etc. Definitely eat before the party to maximixe your time at the party. Belle

I would go on Sunday too, thinking that the #s would be higher due to locals. You can get in to the park starting at 4 so if you really want to do a table service meal, book it for sometime before 4:30-5 so you are not missing any of the party time. Make sure to book it as soon as you can b/c the restaurants in MK go fast on party dates.

that is my experience as well. Fridays or Saturdays are heaviest with local guests, Sundays and Tuesdays are generally lighter.

Thanks for all the info. I just checked out the all ears network site and it said discount not available on Dec 4, would that affect my decision on which night to go? If friday is a non discount night and Sunday is would more people go on Sunday?? DECISIONS!!! DECISIONS!!!!
Have to get my plans set because my 90 day ADR's will be coming up in early September. Thanks Again

Thirded. Being a local, I know I've only gone to MNSSHP and MVMCP on Friday nights because I have off the next day. I typically wouldn't be able to pull a Sunday without both of us having to take Monday off.

Just the opposite. Discounted days (and times of year for hotels) are generally lighter, so the need to discount to entice more folks is needed. On the days they know will have the most interest, no need to discount.

The possible exception to this is DVC/AP discount days. It seems lately, those dates are exceptionally crowded...:(

If staying on site I would plan to take the discounted ticket and go on Sunday, you're going to get a lot of locals there on Friday. We're going to be there at the same time and we'll be attending on the Sunday. Also, the Friday will be parade taping day which means a lot of locals will be in the park anyway so they will probably stick around to attend the party that night. As for what's open, yes the attractions will be open but as for dining, I wouldn't count on any restaurants to be open during the party unless you plan to make a special party dining adr at either Tony's or Liberty Tree Tavern. Those will be the only table service restaurants that will be serving and you WILL need an ADR for those. As for quick service, very few will be open as they generally convert over to serving the cookies and cocoa for the party because the park 'closes' to the public at 7pm so the quick service restaurants will close as per a 7pm closing. If you want to eat, I would suggest eating before the party begins, either in park or grab something in one of the surrounding hotels.

We've been to MVMCP on a Friday one year and a Sunday another. Friday was much more crowded than the Sunday. We watched the second parade both times and it was far less crowded on the Sunday.
