it *shouldnt* be a deal breaker. especially since your booked (if you arent booked yet, lie and say you are, and have been for months)

It was for me. I interviewed for a job, and they wanted me to start the next week. We were leaving for WDW in 4 days and I told them so. I was passed over. When we returned from our trip I had two messages from the owner... if I wanted the job call ASAP.
The guy they hired instead of me worked one day and never showed up again.

Good Luck huggles, you two!

but then again, thats why shouldnt was in those lil **'s

Or you could do what I have done in the past...dont say anything until your first day of employment (of course that might not be the best advice, and i did it at stop and shop...not exactly my dream job)

With most decent companies, as they get through the interview process, they zero in on a "#1 candidate." If that is you, then to say that you have a vacation planned shouldn't be that big of a deal to them, especially if you a) have kids and b) the vacation is in the summer (not saying that if you don't have kids or a vacation any other time of the year should be unreasonable).

If the company really wants you, then they will accomidate you. They probably won't pay you for your time away from the office, but they will "wait for you."

Good Luck Alicia and Sherman!

thanks everyone.

My view on a new employer not allowing an existing vacation. If this is an issue now, it will only get worse later. That employer is not worth working for.

A valid point that I forgot the add into my post.

Also, at the end of an interview, the interviewer says "We'll get back to you within XX days/weeks" and they don't...and you have to call...and they say "We are waiting for the contract to get signed." And then you hear nothing for SIX MONTHS. Then out of the blue, he calls you and says "We'd like to make an offer." (Happened to me - NO, I did NOT take their offer.)

RUN, RUN, RUN and HIDE!

My thought was, if you are evasive and not willing to give a straight answer with a potential employee, how evasive are you with the employees you have?

I hate wearing socks and shoes. I'd rather walk around barefooted if I could. I only own one pair of shoes and I have a drawer full of socks which I don't wear because I'm always walking around barefooted

I'm with you! I only wears shoes when I have to and when its warm those shoes are thong sandles.

I guess I'm in the minority...I really do not like feet. There's just something about feet that gross me out. I'm not saying people have nasty feet (although a lot do  ), but I just don't like looking at them, and I don't like showing mine ::shrugs:: That's why I love all my closed-toed shoes and sneakers and whatnot. I do have several pairs of sandals, but I wear them when I have to (i.e. formal occasions). I also walk around the house barefoot, but that's because I also like to let my feet breathe :hammer:
