I do not get how come they charge an extra 15 dollars a person for over 2 adults. What do they do differently? I mean I am going on a trip with three buddies and we are all 18. But since theres more than 2 of us over 18 they are charging us 30 dollars more a night =[. Honestly do they have to do anything different? !!!:fork:

I have never understood that fee either. What it is their business if 4 grown women want to cram into a value resort room (been there, done that, never again! :dazzle:). I guess it is just another way for them to rake in the money.

It is a common practice throughout the hotel industry to charge an additional fee for more than two adults sharing a room.

Yeah it is unfortunately an industry standard, not just a Disney one. Rooms rates are clearly stated to be based on Double Occupancy (meaning two adults). If you want more than that then you have to pay more.

I have often hear the argument from the hotels that adults typically use more of things in a room. A room with 4 adults in it will go through more soap, shampoo, coffee, towels etc than the same room with 2 adults and two kids in it. Is it $15 worth.....more than likely not but it is pretty standard practice no matter what resort or hotel you stay at. Also statistically a room with 4 adults in it also stands a greater chance of getting damaged and or being stripped clean of such things as towles, stationary, tolitries, light blulbs, furniture etc.

As far as hotels go though, Disney is very light on the extra fees. It is not uncommon to have such extras as parking, hospitality fee, resort fee, as well as mandatory bellman, safe and internet fees even if you do not use said services tacked onto your bill. And god help you if you take something from the min-bar or dare to pick up the phone and make a call.

I agree that Disney is pretty good about fees. I don't really mind the $15 extra adult thing all that much (I don't go with 2+ adults that much anymore). It is just a minor nuisance and pretty silly in my opinion.

Oh, and  at the rooms being stripped of light bulbs. I actually had a friend who used to do that. She was an odd girl...:lookaroun

I had a freind that was the night manager of a small hotel here in Jacksonville and he would tell me that it was not uncommon to find trivial items such a tables, chairs, TV's, etc missing from the rooms. He even told me of one guest that took the bathroom fixtures.

This is the travel industry's official stance on these "additional occupant" fees. More water, soap, shampoo, towels.

It's really just a way to make more money.

The Deluxe Resorts do not charge additional occupant fees.

Not true at all - the Deluxe Resorts charge $25 per extra adult. The exception is if you are staying in a DVC Villa, they do not charge for extra adults.

Yup, that fun fact spilled out of my brain slightly wrong. What I should have said was that Deluxe Resorts offer rooms with 4 occupants as a standard, as opposed to 2 at Value and Moderate.

Sorry, but that's incorrect.

I just plugged a room-only single night (2/28) at the Grand Floridian (Garden View) into the WDW website. 2 adults was $618, 4 adults was $674. The difference is $56, which is $25 per adult, plus 12.5% tax.

Just one of the many reasons we stay offsite. Had 3 adults in our room at $60 a night, included fridge, coffee pot and internet service. 1 mile to the parks...:lookaroun
