Morality test

NOTE: This post is NOT an expression of political opinion. Please take it as the little trifle of amusement that is is.

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will be able to test where you stand morally.

The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, where you will have to make a decision one-way or the other. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Please scroll down slowly and consider each line - this is important for the test to work accurately.

You're in Florida...In Miami, to be exact... There is great chaos going on around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. There are huge masses of water forming devastating waves. You are a news photographer and you are in the middle of this great disaster.

The situation is nearly hopeless - but you know that you will escape alive. You're trying to shoot very impressive photos. There are houses and people floating around you, disappearing into the water. Nature is showing all its destructive power, and is ripping everything away with it.

Suddenly, you see a man in the water, and he is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away by the masses of water and mud. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. And suddenly you know who it is - it's George W. Bush!

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him away ... forever. You have two options. You can try to save him or you can take the best photo of your life. So, you can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a Pulitzer prize winning photo. A unique photo displaying the death the death of one of the world's most powerful men.

And here's the question: (Please give an honest answer)

Would you select colour film, or go with the simplicity of classic black and white?

Here I am trying to find a way to tactfully say I'd take the picture because I can't swim, so if I did try to save him we'd both be lost. Oh, I'd choose B&W.

It's never too late to learn to swim. A mate of mine, who is in the same age bracket as your good self, recently took the plunge (excuse the expression ;) ) and has completed an adult "Learn to swim" course at a local swimming pool.

Black and White..., with a color job on the foam surrounding him in light blue, to highlight the form of desperation.

Actually knowing my innate lack of direction I'd probably take a picture of the Lemonade guy instead. But then again, I've never been to Miami. :animwink:

(but if i was a real photogrpher for a newspaper.. wouldn't i have digital camera on me as well??)

I would go with B&W film for that picture, myself. I prefer that for certain types of photos, and Presidents during important points in history look great in B&W.

I'd try to save the President and pray for the people who've been floating this around the internet as a moral dilemma.
Not sure if your post is made in offence to mine or a light-hearted response that I'm missing.

To any who took the post seriously - it's a joke people, not a serious test of morality  If you have too strong a sense of political affiliation then change who is in the water and enjoy the joke.

To everyone who joined in the sillyness, thank you :D

eh.. a human life is a human life. Although I may not like the person, if they're gonna die, and I can intervene, sure. I'll take the moral high ground and save the President.

You may think it a joke, but to the Bush supporters it's a backhanded way for the Bush haters to put down the President. It is a political post no matter how you slice it. I'm suprised the moderartors let it go.

It's not silly or fun. It is insulting. That's my opinion for those who care.

Everyone on this site knows barnum42. He was not trying to insult or backhand anyone. If you don’t like this post, then PM Barnum42 and explain to him your feelings.

By stating this on open forum, you are opening the door for trolls to come in and attack this thread. This will create a bigger issue then was intended. We have seen it before a intended harmless post turned into a something that was not intended.
