MontyMon’s delayed December Trip Report

No, December wasn’t delayed, the TR was!

So, despite all my best intentions of not taking Morgan out of school any more now that he’s in High School, I had a chat with his Vice Principal who told me the school wouldn’t object to a week off until next year when he’s in Grade 11 [a Junior for my American friends]. So… I booked a trip for WDWCelebrations’ “Holiday Hoopla” event.

30 November

We left Ottawa bright and early, flying by way of Dulles to arrive at MCO at 2:30PM. It was a wonderful 85F as we got off the aircraft. We were off the plane and to DME in no time and checked in at Wilderness Lodge by 4. I’d booked a bunk bed room, only to find that Morgan has grown more than I thought and doesn’t really fit in their bunk beds. He complained briefly, but when I offered to see if they had a different room available he said he’d be OK. We were a bit weary from our travels, so rather than head to the parks for a brief visit before dinner, we just lazed around the room and watched all the Disney Resort channel loops until our luggage was delivered. We then unpacked and toured the resort a bit. We had 7PM reservations at Artist Point, so we headed there. We both ordered the Mushroom Soup Appetizer and the Beef Tenderloin steak… Best steak we’ve ever eaten on property bar none! :slurp: After dinner we decided to crash for the night and have a fresh start in the morning.

I wasn't sure how he would response to me telling him I was going to meet a man, but he handled it pretty well.

Finished the book by the way.
Feel free to PM any questions... As you may have already guessed, I'm not exactly shy about talking about the whole thing.

What a horrible third period collapse last night. I am still ill over it.

As for the Leafs and the Sens, I think they might be hitting the links at the same time this year

The Russians made come-back after come-back all tournament, hardly a surprise that they did so again. Tough loss, but it was great hockey!

Ya, Sens are circling the drain.

My boys at school keep bringing it up with me becuase they think it's funny. It still makes me wanna throw up.

But then, they're 17/18/19 years old. Some of them will be drafted, a lot of them won't.. they're not professionals. Everyone's like "I feel so bad for Visentin" and I do to a point, but it's really not his fault that his teammates were playing sloppy as f*** hockey, even if they are just kids. Code blue is riiighttt.

/end rant

A HUGE thank you for your thread and pics Monty! I was not aware that they had tours to do the resorts, last time we were there, we "toured" with a friend that was a CM at the time. She and her husband took us to all the resorts to see the Christmas decorations, and we had a BLAST! I regret to inform you though we missed the WL! That will be taken care of this year, we will be staying there in November for the holidays. Thanks for posting your pic on the WL room, that is the type of room we reserved! Glad you did not have a "camera incident" on this trip! Take care!

The Resorts tour was organized by WDWCelebrations, not Disney [although they do coordinate their plans with Disney so they don't get in the way]. I can't recommend their events enough!

After that we had some lunch. The rest of the group went off to see Captain EO, but we’d arranged to meet with Reva [Disneybird] and Rachel [Popsicletrees] and a whole gaggle of WDWMagicers at Germany. We had a wonderful meet and chatted for over an hour and a half before heading our separate ways.

And we had a very nice time talking to you too. Alright, Monty, I haven't been on here in over a month. You have to forgive me for not commenting on this sooner. Don't worry dad said that he really enjoyed talking to you, and Jordan was jealous that I got to meet so many people from here without him. We'll have to meet again on some other future trip and maybe do dinner so we can all talk longer. Tell Morgan I said "hi" and that I'm still really jealous about his upcoming trip with his school.

I'm planning on doing a TR too, so check that out soon.

Oh, and pumpkin pancakes sound so much better than TT.

All these things I'm supposed to forgive you for! I dunno! :lookaroun

Dinner would be wonderful! But don't bring Jordan... He won't like me. :lookaroun

j/k! I suppose he can come along.

It was great meeting you and your Mom, as well as all the others.

I guess I can forgive you for not commenting. :D But that other thing may take me some time to get over.

Pumpkin pancakes were OK, but TT is to die for!

I stopped at Duty Free and bought a bottle of Louis XII Cognac – a mistake once I found out Ontario charges ridiculous surcharges on liquor coming into the province! The extra taxes were a couple of hundred, the extra Duty was $3.05 – the surcharge was $911!!!! Ultimately meaning my duty free liquor cost me about $400 more than if I’d bought it here! Stoopid Government!

It still tastes great…

I hope you had a nice Cuban cigar while enjoying that Cognac. :king:
