There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago that I posted to-it's going to be a coaster of some kind

I guess this answers the question as to whether or not Monster's Inc is deemed a franchise or not per Bob Iger. I believe Ratatouille made more money that Monster's Inc, but if a random declaration of "we'll only make rides based on franchises" is to hold true, than Monster's Inc must be a franchise.

I think this sounds like it could be a good idea. If they made a whole Monster's Inc. Boulevard I would think it would be like a road in Pixar Place or connecting to it. I also think it would be good to move Laugh Floor to this new area. I have grown to like it, but it still doesn't fit into Tomorrowland for me.

Yeah I think it would be nice if it was connecting to Pixar Place or like actually a part of it. I think a cool name for it would be "Monstropolis Boulevard".

Martin or anyone else out there,
How usable is the area just north of RnR? Is there room to expand the studio this way, or is there something that would prohibit this?

As far as I know, this area has 4 expansion pads - this one, the one NE of Tower (next to the original access road), the one between TOTS and the Lake (Copperfield plot) and the one with the market on (another of those temporary area that`s 13 years old now!)

Of course, add the Indy parking lot plot and the extinct backlot area and all of a sudden DHS looks like it has a lot of room.

It is so evident - when you look at it from above like this - what an absolute nightmare of a theme park this is planning-wise.

Who in the world thought this layout made sense!??! Oy!

I thought they were already planning a Monster's inc ride a couple of years ago which was like the door scene where you fly through tthe different doors?

Or i'm just getting more insane.

Although the article doesn't proof anything (it's only this article) to me...

The whole thing could be valid because of the Pixar idea.

It all fits pefectly... Considering the plans, Disney name transitions into Pixar... :lookaroun

  • Given the fact that Tomorrowland is almost completely taken over by Pixar names.
  • The Pixar Boulevard in the Studios.
  • The sneaky invasion of Pixar names in Epcot.

I just can't wait until they get to World Showcase for "Finding Norway", "A Brit's Life" and "Mexicans, Inc."

Well originally no one thought the Studios was gonna be as great (speaking loosely lol) a park as it is now. It was built really small and expanded over time taking the space that was available hence the weird layout it has.

But to the matter at hand, I think this is a great idea. I agree with all of you who say why name it "Pixar Place" with only one one movie franchise in the area. Having it as a land with "mini lands" would be fantastic. I hope they do make this happen and hopefully they will decide to bring laugh floor there and return Tomorrowland to it's previous glory:drevil:. On a side note, I'd really love to see a coaster themed to the EAC. Though figuring out placement for that on top of this, I guess I can wait. But hey, a fan can dream right?

I posted about The Economist's article in which Iger does state just that, so you are right. Apparently, Monsters, Inc. is indeed a franchise, which leads me to believe that they are serious about using "franchises" to drive park development. Now I can only hope they use their biggest franchise, the mouse, and create an attraction based around him. He is the only reason anything Disney exists, and it would be nice to have a tribute of some sort to Mickey that isn't Philharmagic.

Now more on the topic (sorry for the drift) I would be ok with the idea if it were contained within the new Pixar Studios and not an entire land unto itself. If done well, Pixar Studios could be fantastic. A Monsters, Inc. ride, a Ratatoiulle restaurant, TSMM, maybe a walkthrough based on Pixar computer animation, a Cars attraction, and I would personally love to see an attraction possibly based on some of the Pixar shorts, which IMO are better than some of their feature-length films. It would be great if they could kind of contain the Pixar "franchises" within the new area so we are not inundated with Pixar everywhere else on property.

This could be very exciting. I do imagine that if this turns out to be in the works, the location will be connected to Pixar Place. Perhaps on the street on the backside of Toy Story Mania, where the rumored soon to be gone Backlot Tour currently sits.

What excites me about this idea is that following this logic Pixar Place could become like a full mini-Pixar Studios where the characters from each movie are busting out of their respective Soundstages and Studios.

Also, with Monsters, Inc. in the Studios, imagine Monstropolis Studios with a door scene inverted dark ride, Harryhausen's Restaurant, and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor or some other show with the Mike and Sulley and the rest of the gang paying tribute to the monster movies of old. Finally a playful way to bring in a touch of the scary. This could be very useful if the rumors of a Halloween celebration come true.

Just my thoughts. Hopefully more news will be coming shortly about the development of Pixar Place.

Good point. With the rumors of this and the Nightmare Before Christmas ride/area, along with Tower of Terror would make DHS the perfect Halloween After-Hours-Event park.

Seriously, I hate rumors. Especially ones that i'd LOVE to come true!!

Although, if it does come true....we may as well change the name of DHS to PS....Pixar Studios.

I TOTALLY dig a Fantasylandlike Pixarland in DHS! Throw together 3-4 good dark rides and flip the HISTK park to Bugs life park and you have a solid 3+ hours of park fun that families can hit 4-5 times throughout their week vacation.
