News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

MuppetVision is busy because the park is underdeveloped, but that's not an excuse to keep it. This land will be better utilized, attended, and more guest spending will occur. For a business, which its sole purpose is to make money... it makes sense.

The question becomes what do they do with AC.

Excuse me? Sole purpose? I think it was Walt himself who said something to the effect of, "We didn't go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money"

I realize this is technically the 3rd park built for Disney World but in any case, for you or the bean counters at Disney to believe any given park tied to the Disney name should have the sole purpose to (or be "better off") just cranking out dollar bills, then both you and them have missed the entirety of Walt's vision for the Guest.

Muppet*Vision 3D is a work of art. It's an incredible show with great humor, wonderful animatronics, in-theatre effects, and a live performer, tied to an amazing 3D film headed by a creative visionary that has inspired generations as his final gift to us. That is why it is busy and that is more than enough reason to keep it.

But what? This land will be better served because Disney is going to be able to sell more Mike Wazowski merch? The absolute nerve.

Welcome to the ignore list.

A new CEO takes control in 2026. Economic policy changes beginning in 2025 are going to cause the cost of construction to skyrocket and may crater the economy as a whole. Nothing that is slated to begin construction after 2025 should be considered close to certain - no Villains Land, no phase 2s, no Muppets Coaster, nothing.

Remember what the pandemic did to the Epcot redo in particular and the last wave of significant investments into the parks in general? The current situation is even worse, because the disruption is forseeable.
Maybe Iger will put a hold on everything for 4 years starting Jan 20, 2025 and blame it on orangemanbad ;)

I'm sorry .... but it's the truth? Do I love it, no. But that's the world we live in these days.

Modern Disney's sole purpose is to make money, that's all they care about. If they cease to make money, they will sell the company off bit by bit, part by part.

It is what it is.

What do you mean by "get rid of Twilight Zone finally"? I hope the theme always stays. Hollywood Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios. I mean, come on! Look, I loved my cruise on the Fantasy last year but maybe you should stick to Disney cruises.
Yea, I love ToT but that's gonna be gone eventually too.

In this case I would want an overlay instead of it being destroyed as it is a very fun attraction.

They could do a Muppets Hollywood Tower of Terror movie/overlay too. Get rid of Twilight Zone finally. Gonzo and Rizzo are the bellhops.

I just want to add, I'm not personally trying to attack you, or offend you.

I think I've just come to accept what corporations do in 2024. This is our world. The era of Disney many long for, have nostalgia for, is long gone. I suspect it only gets worse once the new CEO comes.

It's not a Disney IP and I thought the contract cost, or whatever, was always a sticking point. Plus, it's an ancient TV series that many guests have never seen.

very long term but I think that whole side of the park will one day be Marvel and ToT will be another attraction that gets re-themed to Spider-Man like what they are doing in Asia.

yeah....but look what they did to Splash Mountain..... It is not better than it was... The TOT's plotline and story are engaging. It is masterfully done...Concise,eerie, beautifully designed from start to finish... Can anyone say that they could change the theme and still have as engaging and enduring an attraction? I say no...

the beauty of this attraction is you don't have to know the TV series to fully comprehend the storyline you are about to be a part of... It is easy to understand, and some of the best placemaking and storytelling the Imagineering team has ever done.

Right. Just because you're changing the IP from one no one remembers to one people know doesn't make it better. Splash had a good storyline you could follow without knowing anything about its history. We know why it changed. Not arguing that. The Tiana replacement didn't live up to how well it could be done. There is nothing about ToT that says the theme must be changed. The story runs perfectly throughout.

Right - I agree with this. If Disney is going to replace or retheme stuff, because Disney is gonna Disney ... at least ensure the quality is there, and the story is well thought out.

Tiana has some glaring flaws, which really should never have happened, and I think it all comes down to the "writing" and choice of play they decided to create.

Well,...yes...Jim Henson's last project (MuppetVision 3D) will be destroyed by Burbank.

However, the GOOD news in all of this is that the "Star Wars Launch" Bay has been saved for now!

Every cloud has it's silver lining.

Devil's advocate ...

A land that people actually want to go into, with a new e-ticket, and a c-ticket show is probably a net gain +10.

VS

An area people avoid unless they have nothing else to do in the park, or want a tummy ache.

If I was an evil capitalistic CEO... I'd probably do the same. I assume bigger plans are coming for AC.
It's the least stupid change they have made (and will make) in at least a decade.
