News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Can’t really argue against any of your comment, just highlighted this one line because my initial thought was they’ll likely just bring over the Monsters laugh floor from MK and call it a day. It will fit much better in a Monsters land theater and will be a dirt cheap replacement.
Id expect that too. I'm just going off the wording that it will be New.

Regardless, i think this sets up a massive Tommorowland overhaul that breaks ground post Cars/Villains.

C'mon guys,...we need to support Burbank on this. Burbank is doing their best to revamp Disney and cater to today's extremely important modern audience. Yes, that means canceling MANY of the older attractions that were developed for older "legacy" fans back in the day. Burbank needs to update it's parks to represent what younger and more modern audiences want to see. If you consider yourself a "Disney fan", you NEED to get behind and support Burbank's mission here. C'mon folks,...there is a long list of outdated, legacy things like "Splash Mountain", "Rivers of America", "Hall of Presidents", "Carousel of Progress", "American Adventure"...and the list goes on and on. Look at Epcot today!...it's a great success story of Burbank being able to modernize an aging park and bring it into the future. Can we PLEASE stop fighting Burbank and be REAL fans and get on their bandwagon?...please?. ;-)

Wrong assumption on your part, I like the guy and like his videos, I commend you on your defense if him.

I am just saying, once he was allowed back on the media list, his commentary has changed.
Sorry to assume you didn't like him! I still respectfully disagree, though I will agree that he's not as negative as he was years ago. I remember in 2020 he was very on the side of "let Disney cook" for TBA, unlike most people who were anti-TBA. Many assumed he'd be a Save Splash guy, but he was optimistic and defending Disney's decision, despite at this point not being on the media list.

Anyways enough about the old curmudgeon, let's get back to the Muppets, lol

I'm pretty sure he looks at it like this(for the record, I was fully on the team of hoping this went to Animation Courtyard.)
.....

Mama melrose becomes Harry Hausen's(which will be booked far stronger for years to come off the theme alone)

New state of the art coaster

New Monsters Show

New Quick service(retheme of PizzaRizzo, which is not popular at all atm despite the memes)

Reopening of large shops and new merch opportunities

New theme for a classic coaster that preserves the Muppet IP in the parks and is more easily updateable with relevant music and will provide a boost in popularity in the short term. An idea that was incredibly popular online for years. Probably only behind a Powerline based retheme.

VS

Losing Muppet vision 3d. A phenomenal yet not highly visited theater show that has been there since the park opened.

------

I can't blame them at all. I really can't. As much as it pains me to admit that.
This is what it looks like when someone looks at this logically and not with emotion.

Personally, I love Muppet*Vision and do it 1-2 times every trip (I do about 10 trips a year, being kind of local and an AP) but this is honestly the best case scenario for this whole situation. Animation Courtyard re-do needs to be something really good in the future and I have hope it will be. If Monstropolis ended up going there I really think it would have felt shoehorned in for such a huge space and how little Monstropolis really needs (based on what it looks like in Muppet Courtyard)

I watch all of his videos and am a fan and this was a big letdown. He was **absolutely sure** and assured his audiences that his sources were ironclad and this was 100 percent going into Animation Courtyard and I believed him. He probably should have hedged a bit.

And to be clear, I don't think he's a shill, and I agreed with his Tiana's reviews, and generally agree with most of what he produces. This was just surprising because, again, he was just so sure.
That's fair. He was REALLY convinced they wouldn't axe the Muppets, especially after they went out of their way to save other old and unattended attractions like the Country Bears. I agree that he shouldn't have been so confident but I think a lot of people needed someone who wasn't a doomer about it.

That said, maybe he should've been a doomer. Worked for Country Bears, maybe it could've worked for Muppets lmao

The Muppets don't work with thrills, no matter how many people want to try to twist it as a good fit. The Muppets are performers, they are meant to exist in dialogue and acting-based mediums. Blasting by plywood paintings of Muppets while Muppet music plays doesn't fit the brand at all, it'd be like making a kiddie flat ride based on Family Guy.

That said: Is Hollywood Rip-Ride-Rocket going to lose its Muppets music? lmao
Hollywood Rip-Ride-Rocket is not long for this world.

I am sincerely looking forward to his views on this.

In the end, it does not matter what anyone says, Disney will do what Disney will do.

Didn’t Disney say it’s a “new” show? That’d rule out MILF moving. Of course, there’s no need for two MI shows and a ride, so even with a new show, I’d expect MILF to retire. She’s past her prime anyway. Ain’t no one ridden than since 2017.
Yeah, I think the MILF billboard was just placeholder art. It's probably going, and will likely stay empty until the inevitable Tomorrowland redo.

That said: it's interesting that soon both American Tomorrowlands will be in states of desperate repair... it'd definitely save on R&D costs to redo two lands at once... *cough cough cough*

I’d settle for them swapping Laugh floor and Muppets 3D until then, Muppets would fit Tomorrowland just as well as Laugh floor did and would probably benefit from a smaller theater.

This is just odd. I don’t get theming a thrill ride to the muppets, it just sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Alien Encounter got lots of complaints for being at Magic Kingdom and jt had no family IP tie in

How many kids even know who the Electric Mayhem Band even are? This is targeted at adults who have nostalgia for the muppets.

Animation Courtyard will end up as Zootopia or Incredibles. Unless Disney knows they will be able to do something Marvel related in like 7 years or less.

Personally, I think moving One Man's Dream to Epcot or MK and just doing Incredibles from where the Pixar Place is now through the Animation Courtyard area would be best.

Fun fact, as someone who has been behind the big gate at the back of that Incredibles area, a small chunk of the streets of New York still exists back there. Might be my favorite bit of back stage at any of the parks. It's actually a fairly large space that goes up till the in park berm that borders Galaxies Edge.

I really wanted to believe Tom and am beyond disappointed at the whole situation in general. Gonna be interested to see what he says today/next week on News Tonight

Also, i think it's wise to try to remove emotion when looking at decisions. Because you end up with blinders on to what the situation actually is. This decision is a bigger net positive for the park than anything they have done in years in florida. Even if it makes me sad.

Yeah the Zootopia thing seems like the easiest "it's already somewhere else and pretty good and popular so let's just plop it here" option.

I like the idea of Incredibles, but I feel like that would just be another roller coaster and with the addition of the Monsters Inc. one I don't really think we need more in this park, but maybe they want to go full steam ahead with *Universal teen crowd* competitor with Hollywood Studios and let it rip with those type of rides. In addition to the eventual roller coaster expansion to Galaxies Edge that I'm sure is coming hah!
