News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I wonder how long Muppet Vision has... it seems like a huge portion of this work could be done/started while keeping Muppet Vision operational. At least from the exterior, there seems to be minimal/no changes to the outside of the building itself and unless they are making major changes to the queue/theater itself, they could wait and close Muppet Vision ~12 months before the land itself opens...
I'm hoping there is an announcement of it being moved before its closed in its current location. Maybe the theater next to the rethemed Muppets Coaster. Or how about the Disney Jr. theater in Animation Courtyard and retheme Animation Courtyard to Muppet Studios. Or retain the Courtyard name and it becomes the new Muppets Courtyard.

Looks like the kids play area got cut (one of the original concept art pieces seemed to show a Sully colored twisty slide suggesting an outdoor kids area... nothing similar can be seen in the most recent concept art). It's a shame because I feel like DHS could really use a place where kids can just run around and let off some steam without needing to stand in a queue...
They won’t do that. Doesn’t sell lightning lanes.

My understanding is it's a much more short-term thing. Think about what they could throw into a park with just a few months of planning, that doesn't involve major construction or WDI.
My money is on MV3D to the Mickey Shorts theatre, which would then move to sunset showcase to replace the villains show once villains land opens in MK.

The fact that those-who-know are not coming in to shoot down a TOT overhaul while stating projects elsewhere will come much later suggests…a TOT overhaul. Someone tell Ariana Grande.

November 2024 can p*** off.
I mean, TOT is always a walk on and it never sells out it's lightning lanes so it's obviously very unpopular and in need of a reskin.

Time to Read the Len Tea leaves...
  • There is another shoe to drop
  • Not Indy, ToT or Animation courtyard
  • Something that isn't generating LL sales...
I only see a few attractions left:
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Fantasmic
  • Frozen
  • Star Tours
  • Vacation Fun
Of these, BATB is on a huge plot of land, Frozen and Vacation Fun share a building, and Star Tours would be easy to re-theme... Although aren't we supposed to get an Asoka update soon?

My money is on BATB.

Fantasmic generates Dining Package sales.

And now that Disney is destroying Muppets, Corless will make an excuse for Disney now that he is back on the media list.
Do people who complain about Tom even watch any of his videos? (I already know the answer to that, it's no)

When he praises Disney, he's a shill. When he criticizes them, he's a disgruntled toxic fanboy who's never happy. Literally until his site was back on the media list, the goalpost was "he's never happy" and now it's "he's a shill" despite his tone and opinions not changing at all, and I would know because I work with him now, and I have edited dozens of clips and videos of him actively hating something Disney has done. Disney specifically asked him to continue to be honest with his thoughts, even if they're negative. There was a whole meeting. There are recent reviews from him where he criticizes Disney, but no one cares enough to watch something before they complain. Both of his Tiana's reviews had negative points about the ride despite him overall liking it. And now people are mad at him because he... made a prediction that was wrong? Are we seriously getting mad at Tom for being wrong about the Muppets rather than getting mad at the people who actually made the decision to pull the plug on them?

When other Disney Park people are overly positive, why don't we call them shills or excuse-makers? I see people who are FAR bigger white knights for Disney and no one ever gives them crap for it. Heck, there are people on Disney's media list who I have never seen say a single negative thing about them, unlike Tom. People are entitled to their own opinions on people, but if those opinions aren't actually factual then it's annoying. Why complain about a journalist when you don't even bother reading or listening to what they have to say?

Rant over, lmao. Also even if I hadn't started working for the guy I'd feel the same way, I just really dislike this kinda stuff. Like all the people hating on Poseidon Entertainment without even watching his videos.

It's what it is. And it does seem like they have a slight finger on the pulse in generating bandaids for this entire decision.
The shifts have been clear, but it will always be a sad reality, with track records stinking more than succeeding this entire generation. By the time this opens the parks will be even more catered towards the top percentages anyways.

For how long have we discussed the coaster re-theme, right. I can't recall Muppets discussions on it until these last few months. It's a weird fit sure, but so is Aerosmith in 2024. It can work, and I am somehow optimistic about what they can do and generate for a layover, get creative but also put in the care they deserve - we can only hope. Super interested in this news over what I have sadly already accepted with Grand Ave over the last months.

I know I will be looking to make a trip down and hopefully enjoy the space one last time, where I have had some of the fondest memories of my life with family members who are no longer around.

Forever. This is up there with Carousel of Progress or Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. It is culturally significant as the final work of Jim Henson--that is the last time he voiced Kermit the Frog.
This. It's not just "an old Muppet show", it's LITERALLY the last time Jim Henson ever performed as Kermit. It's his last project. The fact Iger sees no value in that is disgusting.

This is just odd. I don’t get theming a thrill ride to the muppets, it just sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Alien Encounter got lots of complaints for being at Magic Kingdom and jt had no family IP tie in
The Muppets don't work with thrills, no matter how many people want to try to twist it as a good fit. The Muppets are performers, they are meant to exist in dialogue and acting-based mediums. Blasting by plywood paintings of Muppets while Muppet music plays doesn't fit the brand at all, it'd be like making a kiddie flat ride based on Family Guy.

That said: Is Hollywood Rip-Ride-Rocket going to lose its Muppets music? lmao

I dunno... to me the target demographic of the Muppets was always adults. If you look at the guests they had, the songs, the jokes, they always skewed to older audiences. Hence the decision to introduce a completely different cast when they made a show targeted to younger audiences (Sesame Street).

I don't think Disney intends to relocate MV3D, by preserve I would presume they meant it's going to Disney+. If they were going to relocate it, I don't see why they wouldn't have just said that.
Put it on Disney+ using this as a starting point.

So are they saying that the Muppets are “hosting” the coaster and the music is going to rotate? Is it all going to be the same? Each car will have a different song?
Maybe they can build the coaster so that you select the song when you get in. And then they can have some kind of muppets "secret track." Something fun, like Rainbow Connection or something.
