What else would the "media move" be?I hate that this is right. We know that it’s the last thing Henson ever did, but most guests don’t know or don’t care. Our best hope is that a version of the show ends up on D+.

100% they'll do a short special on Disney+What else would the "media move" be?
After all, Muppetvision was removed from Disneyland and nobody shed a tear.I think outside some specific circles (like here) the blowback from closing Muppets will be rather small. Just like removing GMR there will be a lot of concerned diehard park fans, it'll generate some noise on discussion boards, but the vast majority of park visitors will be completely oblivious to it, and just wont care. Given it's Muppets, there will be some small news stories, the morning shows will mention it in passing but will couple it with a message of "Disney is bringing in an exciting attraction featuring Monsters Inc which we all know and love". Disney will do some sort media thing to honor the Muppets or Jim Henson's legacy to placate the fandom, and give the illusion they care about them and the property, and then quickly pivot to fluff pieces showing construction updates with attractive people in hardhats building ground.
Conversations will quickly move to how its progressing, and repeat park visitors will say something like "oh yeah, there used to be some sort of Muppets thing here." Similar to how people discuss Dreamflight and the old Norway ride. This isn't IASM, it's not a cultural icon.
Edit: I was going to change "will be" to "would be" but the more I thought about it, I'm leaving it. Muppets is on borrowed time, if it's not now, it's soon. They've tried several things to revive the IP and results were not promising, and they've tried to invest in this area of the park only to see it still struggle. Something will happen here, this park is too landlocked for them to not use the space more productively. Sorry to Muppet fans, I don't mean to be cold, just speaking the truth from a business perspective.
a. It wasn’t the original MuppetVision, which is still standing. After all, Muppetvision was removed from Disneyland and nobody shed a tear.
If they take out Muppets, they need to announce their AC plans. Ideally they would flip their order for capacity reasons, but I realize their scales are hugely different.
I dont think AC is really much of an issue. Launch bay is fine, competes with all the other SW stuff, but it has very low overhead for operating costs. Disney jr gives the little kiddos something to do, and Mermaid is currently being plussed. The biggest issue is this section is off the beaten path, and isn't cohesive. I dont think they are ready to solve that, without doing serious architecting around the land behind sunset ranch market. This is the whole issue, like I posted above.
Monsters Inc. replacing Muppets without anything going in AC very soon has a decent chance of making the park worse than it is right now from a guest perspective.
And I think we all know that if it does replace Muppets, there's a decent chance that AC stays exactly like it is for a decade or longer.
100% agreed. It's the same reason I have a problem with cars. They're replacing rivers and Sawyer Island when they have a spot they can use without replacing anything. And it's all, well now we have a spot for future expansion. If they use that beyond thunder area in the next 20yrs I think I'll have heart attack. And I think we all know that if it does replace Muppets, there's a decent chance that AC stays exactly like it is for a decade or longer.
Unfortunately Disney stopped caring about things fitting in a long time ago.I like Muppets and want it to stay, but the bigger concern is how out of place Monstropolis would be in Muppet Courtyard's area.
Personally if they have to retheme RnRC why not retheme it to Zootipia and build a zootopia land. All you would need to do is have the coaster be a high speed chase and throw in some new set pieces. And before anyone says but it's a kids film as someone who's been fortunate to have rode the Crushs Coaster in Paris I don't think Disney really cares why IP is on an adult ride.I wonder if they would go ahead and tease an AC replacement, to save face for Muppets closing for Monsters? Maybe a Zootopia announcement or something totally unexpected?

I hope the “not entirely bad news” isn’t just a Disney+ move. Anything other than a new permanent home will be a disgrace. unfortunately, the muppets are probably about to get stuck in the “figment/organgebird” festival/party dimension. If what I've heard is true, it's not entirely bad news. And that's all I can say for now.
Everyone thought Muppets under WDI would mean good things for that IP at the parks, but unfortunately I really think it just means “trot them out at festivals like the rest of our original IP.” I mean, now 50% of all Muppet Merch is exclusive to Mickey’s of Glendale.Unfortunately, the muppets are probably about to get stuck in the “figment/organgebird” festival/party dimension.
my wild guess is that monsters goes in muppets, zootopia goes in AC, and Incredibles goes in RnRCPersonally if they have to retheme RnRC why not retheme it to Zootipia and build a zootopia land. If the rumoured death of Hollywood land is to be believed then that definitely would not save it, it would only be saved for like 6 months to a year.Any chance the saving grace would be that Muppet Vision 3d is going back to DCA? I think philharmagic is pretty dead there and the local crowd loves anything new.
The park is likely to end up more crowded/less pleasant than it is now if we just have a Monsters for Muppets swap without a major AC replacement.
