Monorail Expanding

Although I would love for this to happen, disney would never spend that much money to do something that would not bring money in.

Nothing wrong with posing a question on the forums though...that's what they're here for right? Maybe try using the search feature and if you still can't find what you're looking for, post the question and you'll either be directed to it or it'll be answered for ya No problems though.

Like everyone else said...Not gonna happen. I almost don't mind though. if you read that thread you can see all the problems that it would cause.

I know it propably wouldn't happen anytime soon but isn't MGM not that far away from Epcot. Does anyone know the exact or around distance between MGM and Epcot? I know it would be expensive but it just doesn't seem like as much if ya know what I mean?

I'm not familure with how much just a spur between Epcot & MGM would cost... but in that epic thread, i think the costs of expanding the monorail in general were between 3/4 to a billion dollars. However i think that bit about just an MGM expansion was in that thread, somewhere.

IMO, if Disney were to drop a Billion dollars, I'd like to see a few more erides rather than a new monorail line. I love the monorail, but i'd also like to see the matterhorn at WDW and the beastly kingdom at AK as well as some of the PG ideas for Epcot. (Namely, lose all the blasted concrete!)

Of course, thats my take on it....

To add some additional info,

Disney has had plans drawn up and models made showing an expanded monorail system, I have posted some of them in other monorail threads, these plans were drawn up in the early 70,s while planning for phase II which was to comence after the initial 71 opening, but due to Management changes, money, and in some cases unsuitable ground for footings, nothing is going to happen anytime soon,

B T W, while I'm thinking about it, what ever happened to the alternative transportation system that that was announced in 1998 and rumors from John and Bryan about seeing plans and construction was to have been compleated by now??

I believe you are referring to the Seven Gate Scenario plan (it would have been the only transportation system under study in 1998) but it's on hold indefinitely not only because of money but also because it will probably be several decades before WDW has seven parks.

I was under the impression that the system was to be built and would allow for the addition of thoes lines when thoes gates get built, that way it would have kept down the total build out cost by phasing in the lines to future gates and budget for the line in the gates construction budget and to eliminate the busses sooner than later?

i like haveing all the diffrent ways of getting around, Bus, Boat, monorail. Makes each area and each park diffrent from one another. I would love to see them put something futureistic in to the other resorts and parks, much like what someone had posted on here, looked like little PODS on a rail. Diffrent yet cool, and would generate hype.

Right.... along with the new cobra roll and inversions they're adding to the new monorail track....

So this is wut expedition eversest is. there not gonna build a whole new ride. they are just gonna make the monorail a whole lot better. but wut about the cool back ground voice in the momrail?? will it stay or go??
