i'd pay to ride each of the route once and then just go back to using the car, i very rarely use Disney transport at WDW with the exception of the monorail from the TTC to the MK.

I think I would need more details. Depending on what the cost of reg parking was. As much as I love the monorails. I would have to have more info.

Well, I would need a lot more information before I would make a decision like that, but I don't think that is a reasonable proposition. Would the monorail connect ALL hotels and other attractions? What about minor stuff like the mini-golf places? And if so, is this a single route or multi-point? Each has a whole different set of times and waits, and has a huge effect. What are the alternatives - no busses, some busses, along with busses? Are we limiting automotive access or encouraging it? How many stops are there at a hotel, and is there transfers involved?

Seriously, I understand the ideas a play here, and also some of the motives - and I think this is really a misleading proposition.

For me it would depend on the level of service I get. I have no problem whatsoever paying for a service as long as I get value for my money. Most of us regulars at the park know how undependable the monorails can be at times in terms of reliability so that would definitely come into play. Bottom line time is money. If a monorail system would cut down my travel times from the resort to the parks compared to driving or the buses I would seriously consider it.

The logic makes sense, but I assume the reason we're paying for the monorail would be because it costs so much to build the extensions over such a vast property.

And with that logic, there would be no need for buses anymore since the monorails would go to every resort, etc.

Furthermore, the gargantuan fees in gas, repairs, etc. spent on hundreds (I'm assuming) of buses - a price that probably has accrued to be nearly equal, if not more than the price of expanding the monorail sysetem - would no longer have to be paid.

What I'm saying is this: By what you're proposing, it should make sense that we pay for current bus privelages, since the price of maintaining that system over the years has probably matched what it would cost to build the monorails in the first place. I think I Disney decided to do this instead of the buses, there wouldn't be a need to pay per ride, just like there isn't a need to pay to ride the buses now. But hindsight is 20/20 and I digress.

In essence, I think this is a great idea... If we were still living in 1971. Otherwise, I'm going to need some more convincing.

I'd do the monorails in a heartbeat. Especially if you can go from resort to resort. It sounds if it would be much cheaper than taking a cab. I'd much rather pay $2 than $20 to a taxi.

maybe its the penny pinching rubbing off from my scottish girlfriend - but id actually be miffed - although there price in minmal its the point that mainly that to get to magic kingdom from the outside its either - bus - boat - or monorail.

Ticket prices are high enough to then wack on top costs such as a monorail - also remember that this is a slippery slope - what else would they potentially charge for if they started charging for the monorail? :lookaroun

Not to mention they would have to replace the rolling stock for the increased demand of it going to all parks - although that in itself would be some motivation for disney to charge.

What if it was like a toll... where once the construction is paid for its free... granted that hasn't happened for the E-W Expressway and they are raising rates again ;)

Everyone, Just remember, I expect an equally impressive turnout to v.2.0 of this thread, when I list prices and value-added perks for certain groups of guests.

Say you want to park hop, got a family of 4 or maybe six; pay?, the added expense would be way to high for value received.

Then there would be the boats. On a cost per passenger transport, I'm guessing they are alot less efficient; no, transportation in the grand plan should be inclusive of the ticket prices. JMHO
