It depends. If it still means waiting as long as it does for the busses. No.

The Monorail line of resorts turns out the fleet really quick. I've waited for 20 min for the Epcot monorail before. Sometimes it just isn't worth it. I'd rather drive and not have to worry about hopping back at the end of the day.

Say you want to park hop, got a family of 4 or maybe six; pay?, the added expense would be way to high for value received.

Then there would be the boats. On a cost per passenger transport, I'm guessing they are alot less efficient; no, transportation in the grand plan should be inclusive of the ticket prices. JMHO

Perhaps you missed that part:
There will be unlimited ride passes sold in 1-2-5-7-14-30 day increments will expire depending on the amount of days purchased, as well as prepaid loaded value cards with no expiration date. Unlimited riding will be a perk for selected WDW Packages (ie- platinum plan, etc).

This is only hypothetical if they greatly expanded the system.

Question about the construction of this monorail system.

Would it be a duel track system, similar to DC and NYC? A duel track system would effectively double the construction costs, yet a single track system would immediately compound the problems of a break down. If a train brakes in the middle of a track, then there would be no way to move past it, and more importantly no effective way to move the train itself.

The current monorail system works because the two tracks are essentially two small loops, allowing a simple shuttling system. A looped system on a property wide scale would cause far to much waiting in the event of a brake down, and an "out and back" system would cause too much confustion.

Now, would it be worth the cost to build a double track system?

You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a monorail discussion in cyberspace, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against Pongo when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...thump

It's inconceivable that there is another thread on monorail expansion

YES I would pay. It's not any big secret that I am a big-time sucker for WDW monorails.

Here's me on the monorail at WDW: "GUYS ITS LIKE THE FUTURE! GUYS!"

I WOULD NOT pay to ride the monorail.

However, if a small hike in ticket and resort prices would mean expanding the Monorail, I would support it in a heart beat.

Yes I would pay if it meant they were going to add the monorail system around the resort giving access to the other parks and attractions.

I would say no. It would need to be set up like it is now, priced into the tickets. Being an annual pass holder I would expect it to be included.

I don't like the idea of paying for monorail service seperatly just because it seems like such a hassle. Paying fifty cents (as an example, I know it doesn't match your original plan) to get from the Grand Fla to MK isn't a lot of money but the actual process of pulling out quarters for every guest in your party seems like it would be more trouble than it was worth. Same with everyone trying to present membership cards that excluded them from the payment. I feel like it would result in longer wait times to actually board the monorail which would defeat the purpose of it being more convienant. Not to mention, just like the busses, you can never be sure when that child who is under three is actually going to be taking up four seats because they're napping and their loving parents don't want to disturb them. :hurl: Basically it just seems like it would cause more hold ups and not really be that useful in the end. Paying to use transportation is a real world issue, not a Disney World issue. Thats one reason Disney is so immersive.

I'd pay for it, but instead of making me pay for a seperate ticket or ride fee, find a way to wrap it into other things. For expample, increase souvenir prices by a buck, add a dollar or so onto ticket prices, maybe a dime or so increase on food/drink; you know, a little here, a little there so it doesn't seem like you're paying for it when you actually are.

If disney was to completely change the monorail to encompass everything on property then i would definately pay, i wouldint want disney to jack up room prices and ticket prices. It would be so cool if they made the monorail go everywhere my life would be complete. i know i said i would pay but only if it were to encompass everything, then and only then would i pay.

Keep in mind that if this were to ever happen, there would be no major alternative to the monorail system. The bus system would be almost completely dissolved, only noticeably present for some support work during peak times. You'd probably still have the boats and ferries, but only because some of those were neccesary.

BTW, Tokyo Disney charges for use of their monorail, and no one gets a discount. Not theme park ticket holders, resort guests, annual passholders, no one. It would be worth paying to use the monorail just to see the DVC members squeal...

Funny.

Tempting, but I'd say no. The Monorails are nice, but why would I pay for them while staying at a Value Resort when I could ride the bus for free? I'd hold onto that two bucks for a soda or something
