Toyko? Is that like Tokyo and Kyoto?

They're all the same letters! Then again, so are "Santa" and "Satan", and they both wear red suits.

Lol, when I first joined i was going to say the same thing, I got first on a Monorail from EPCOT to the TTC, and I asked him that. That was before I lurked long enough to find out that the WDW transportation people get horrible rumors....

It would be interesting how they would do that though.... do they just bus everyone to the TTC and then ship everyone on their merry way?

As honest as you may be, it isn't you that everyone doesn't trust, it is the man in the monorail train. Monorail, boat and bus drivers for Disney are the most unreliable sources of Disney information there are (I don't mean to offend anyone if you are any of these occupations:lookaroun ). They could have told you that Eisner was going to be frozen in cryo-freeze and placed next to his BEST friend, Walt. :drevil: They just don't know or can't tell what they know. The best source of Disney information is the internet, and many times if you get a very NICE and WILLING CM, they will tell you things.:sohappy:

ignore the self-appointed topic vigilantes. some people just seem to feel the need to complain anytime certain topics re-surface. i guess for them its easier to and moan than use the back button.

Over the weekend while on our Christmas trip, we got to sit in the front cab with the driver on our way over to EPCOT. We were talking about the expansion plans and he told me that they are doing another study to see about expanding the monorail to cover the other two theme parks.

He mentioned the rise in fuel costs as well as the bus driver costs as the main reasons for re-reviewing the monorail expansion study.

Hope they can find a way to do it.

Well, now that I've got that out of my system, it has been said again and again and again, it is ulnlikely that they will ever build a monorail system to the other parks in the near future.

BTW, no Thrawn to come along and say no monorail expansion periode.:sohappy: Ah, I'm so glad he's gone.

There will be no monorail expansion period. Unless all the suits over in Burbank and the major shareholders simultaneously loose their minds...

Unfortunately, Thrawn picked a fight with someone he couldn't beat....Steve. This was about a month ago.

Well, in support of the OP he didn't say they are talking about breaking ground on a new monorail line or anything like that. The rumor is only that they are studying the feasibility of it.

I bet they get a LOT of guest feedback asking about possible monorail expansion, and it doesn't seem impossible to me that they actually consider it occasionally.

Of course the study will show that it's not cost effective and we'll all have to stick with busses.

So monorail pilots aren't CM's?

Yes, monorail pilots are CMs... I think you just misunderstood somehow...

Oh, I understood, I'm being somewhat facetious.

My point under my point was: He states that you can't trust rumors from Monorail pilots, but, you can get good rumor information from Cast Members. So, either the point that you can get good rumor information from cast members is false, or that monorail pilots are not cast members.

Ultimately it comes down to this: Any good CM is not going to be spreading rumor. They will not be commenting on future development. Beyond that, even if a CM tells you something, if the construction has not started -- even if they had the best most reliable information in the world -- it may not happen. A project can be cancelled (or modified) at any time; or even halted mid-construction (Pop Century anybody?).

Of course, I can't help but take it personally when Monorail Pilots are singled out. Personally, I'd follow the rule of "If it's a rumor from a CM, it's just a rumor. It has no more weight than a rumor from the internet." I don't care if Bob Iger told you about it while eating at your house -- it doesn't exist until it exists.

I have to sadly agree that the monorail system propably wont be expanded anytime soon. However I've found some interesting policies in the Reedy Creek Improvement District's 2008 comprehensive plan http://rcid.org/2008Comp_main.cfm.
The following policies are found in the "Traffic Circulation Element - Policies"

"Policy 2.4: The RCID shall encourage landowners and business operators to provide transit service, including watercraft, monorail, buses, and/or other modes of transportation, to hotels and attractions within the District."

"Policy 6.4: The District shall ensure that alternative modal choices are available to all major trip generators and attractors within the District."

Animal Kingdom only has one modal choice, Buses
