Another case of guests not caring about others.
You say that now, but if CM's were having to glance over every car at every monorail stop every time the doors open, yes, that time would definitely start to add up quickly. The two pictures in this thread alone don't really serve as enough evidence that there is enough of a littering problem on the monorails that something like this should be at play anyway. The drink bottles were still standing upright, and the pastry was in one solid piece, so it didn't look like these items had been there very long. They hadn't been knocked over or kicked around, as one would expect to find them if they had made it through several hours of passengers coming and going before the pictures were taken.
Well, it wouldn't be that long of a delay to just kinda walk by and give a quick glance over things. It's not a FP+ ride, but you know what they say about first impressions.
True, it would add up. This is also where the honor system kinda comes in. If you have the capability, pick it up (bottles) or at least notify the CMs so that they can take care of it.
Like I said, if something doesn't get done in a timely manner, especially on the monorails, for some to most, that ride is the first impression they get of seeing the upkeep of things in the parks.
In an ideal world then yes that would be great. But remember to make it so there was minimal delay they'd really have to employ one cm per car to board every time the monorail stopped at every station. Having less than one per car would cause delays especially if there was in fact a load of trash left on the monorails regularly as this thread leads us to believe. We could have the cm's permanently riding the monorails instead but that would also reduce the passenger capacity and cause complaints about that. Whilst cleanliness is something that Disney definitely needs to keep on top of, I think it might be a case of a bit of overkill unless this is a regularly occurring problem.
I agree about first impressions, but the problem is that the CM's simply can't be everywhere at all times. Even if Disney employed people to do nothing but ride the monorail and watch out for littering, all this would do is further raise ticket prices to pay for those CM salaries and reduce capacity on the monorails, as @mergatroid mentioned. Besides, when someone gets on a monorail, they have already had their first impression. They had to see a resort, the TTC, the MK, or Epcot to board a monorail in the first place.
