Moderate or Value???

My fiance and I just decided that for our honeymoon in May 2013 we are going to do about 4 days in Disney and then drive to the coast or keys. Our past two visits we have stayed at the pop century resort and enjoyed it very much. But this time we were trying to decide if we should upgrade to a moderate resort because it will be our honeymoon and a shorter period of time or stick with the value resort. Having no experience with a moderate resort, I am coming to all of you for advice/information/input. Thanks so much!! :veryconfu

Since it is your honeymoon, I would say yes, upgrade to a Moderate. The atmosphere is a bit more adult oriented, there are more amenities at the resort, and the rooms will be larger.

If you are going to the beach as part of your vacation, I would suggest staying at Port Orleans French Quarter while at Disney. Make sure you take a romantic carriage ride :D

I agree Port Orleans French Quarter is the best!!! Celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary there last year! A perfect location.:)
I also recommend POFQ. My DW and I spent our first post-Honeymoon vacation at POFQ twenty years ago. We went back in 2010 and it hasn't changed one bit. You should have a great time!

How about splurging a bit more and stay @ Wilderness Lodge or even Animal Kingdom Lodge. But, if you stick w/ moderate do go w/ PO French Quarter and do take a carriage ride!

Well if it's a choice between cutting your trip shorter or staying at a Value resort, I would go for the Value resort because you get extra time in the "World".

If you can swing it, and stay the same amount of time in a Moderate resort, absoultely upgrade! Otherwise, if you have stayed in a Value before and enjoyed the experience, then I'm sure that you will have just as lovely a trip this time around, especially if that trip is longer because of it.

Seems like the moderate of choice is Port Orleans, French Quarter. Don't forget the great boat ride to DTD. It's especially nice at night.

If you are going to be out all day, then it might not be worth the extra money. When I go, the room simply serves as a place to sleep and shower, so value is enough for us. Since it is your honeymoon and you plan to be in the room for some "quality" time, then the upgrade might be worth. As others have said, fewer kids around. Maybe a sound proof room. :D j/k

Port orleans.

I agree,Port Orleans French quarter is beautiful, however this year will be our third visit to Riverside,we prefer it,especially the mansion buildings. It's like a setting from " Gone with the wind ".

I think the upgrade to a Moderate is a great idea for your honeymoon, as long as it fits the budget. Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite, Magnolia Bend area is very romantic and tranquil.

And YES...the carriage ride is a must!

If you can swing the moderate, I would. POFQ is significantly smaller than POP, and should be much more quiet and peaceful. But if for some reason you are planning on spending most of your time at the parks and only going back to your room to crash out dead tired, then save the money for something else. My DW and I stayed value first trip, then moderate second, and since then she has refused to go back to value. Just keep that in mind if you do upgrade........

We have never stayed at Values but always at moderates or deluxes. I would definitely splurge a little and stay at the moderate. My suggestion would be either POFQ or POR. Both resorts are very nice and have been recently updated with new beds, tvs, carpet, bathroom amenities, etc. You will like either one, but POFQ is smaller and easier to get around. POR has sit down restaurant and many activities to enjoy too, and it is less than 10 minute walk from French Quarter. I don't have experience with either Carribbean beach or Coronado springs moderates but I have heard they are both very large and harder to get around in. Hope this helps...

POFQ is the way to go if your willing to bump up your resort. Its small and quite. Like others have said...less kids, great boat ride to DTD. I say go for it!!!!
