DW and I are taking or first trip to WDW Oct 17-21. We love Halloween and are debating on going to MNSSHP. Is it geared more towards children and is it worth spending the $50-$60 per person for a few extra hours in MK? We are on the fence, leaning towards going. I'd appreciate some input (more than just yes or no). Thanks!!

Like you said MNSSHP is geared more toward kids so if you are hoping for a slightly less scary version of Halloween Horror Nights you will be disappointed. That being said we have gone to MNSSHP every year for 5-6 years now and enjoy it very much. The special parade and fireworks are alone worth the price of admission. Also unless you are there on Halloween or right around it the parks are almost deserted. Nearly every attraction save for the haunted mansion is walk on.

I would spend the money (& intend to) just to see the Headless Horseman ride before the parade. I've always wanted to see that. I know...no guarantee he'll ride on the night I'm there because I think I read he doesn't always if it's been raining and the pavement is too wet. It's worth it to me just to have the CHANCE of seeing this, tho. Seriously.

I love the party and try to go every year. We are adults only, our "kids" are well into their twenty's and they have all gone with us. If you are there early on, like early October, late September, the party is not crowded at all so it is like having the MK to share with only a few thousand people so it is, in my opinion, a bang for my buck. This year we plan on going twice!

The parade itself is fabulous. It begins by Splash Mountain and runs up thru Main Street and it started by a headless horseman riding a horse thru the route. We have trialed many spots to watch the parade and this year I want to be right in front of the castle because at that point the road goes in a circle and the horseman has to walk the route. The second parade of the night I can watch from another location.

The fireworks are spectacular, making the sky so bright at times it feels like daylight and they surround you. It is hard to take them all in because there is so much going on. The Castle is lite in erie and yet beautiful colors, and shadows of ghosts and goblins fly by.

People dress up or not, we don't. Whole families dress as characters from Disney movies, think the Incredibles. Most try to do something in season, if it only to wear halloween colors. There are trick or treat sections set up along the way, lots of character interaction if you want and dance parties set up. Fun stuff! People watching at it's best cause everyone is having fun.

Most quick services places to eat are open thru out the night BUT if you want a meal and not a hamburger then eat well before you come.

The MK opens to party guest the day of their party tickets at 4 PM, even tho the party officially starts at 7 PM. This in itself gives you a bang for your buck feel, in my opinion. The MK doesn't close until midnight, so if you enter at 4 you get a full 8 hours. Cast members make sure to "sweep" the park of people not wearing wrist bands, wrist bands indentify the people paying to be there for the party.

I would recommend the party, we always have a good time!

Does anyone know when tickets will go on sale for this year?

We will be going early October, and with our ADRs fast approaching I would like to be able to plan around going to MNSSHP! This will be our first year attending and our DD 6 cant stop talking about seeing the Headless Horseman!

Go! While we went with our kids, it would definitely still be something to do without kids. It was fun dressing in costume - many adults were. The Boo To You Parade was my favorite parade at Disney, and Hallowishes fireworks were amazing. Ride lines are much shorter than during normal park hours, and you can get candy. What could be bad? :)

I have attended the party many times and I don't have kids. It isn't a scary event, but I don't think it is geared towards children either.
The parade is amazing. I don't want to spoil too much, but I would pay $50 just to see that.
The fireworks and villains stage show are also entertaining. One of the highlights for me is the photo ops with villains. They are out so rarely and it is great to meet and greet with all of them.
They also give out a fair amount of candy.
The extra time at Mk is nice, but it isn't that important to me considering the other perks.
Check out this page to see pictures from past events. Tickets usually go on sale in April.
