The parade and fireworks are two of the best shows WDW does. Make sure you see them.

If you don't wear a costume, be prepared to get gently ribbed by the cast members (but in a fun way).

I love the Villain Mix 'n Mingle, mostly because of the photo-ops it affords you afterwards with villains you don't normally see, particularly Maleficent.

I would not go on the rides. There are things that only happen at the parties. The rides are always there.

Parade
Fireworks
Character Meets: Some characters are only out at the parties
Trick or Treat
Dance Parties

I will be going to the one on the 20th. Have fun at your birthday party. Just remember not to go dressed in your Birthday Suit :ROFLOL:

The only rides I plan to do are:
HM - There is great theming
TTA - love it at night
Jungle Cruise - hoping for the adult version

This is what I usually do. Get a few pictures with characters and then watch the Villains stage show at 8:50. After the show, I take pics with the villains.

When they leave, I hang around the hub and watch the fireworks at 9:30 PM.

I go to HM and hang out with the ghost out front. I visit the Mark Twain and hang around with the ghost found there. I do a little trick or treating.

I find a spot on Main St and watch the parade at 10:30. I spend the rest of the evening taking pics with characters and maybe riding HM a few more times.

I 2nd this. We did this party last year and the only ride we did was the Haunted Mansion becuase you have to at a Halloween party. Otherwise there are so many other great things going on that aren't during normal park hours.

I've never gotten ribbed about not being in a costume (did MNSSHP in 05,06,09,2010), but that's probaby because my girls were, unless it was too hot.

You MUST see the parade...it's pretty neat, especially the Haunted Mansion Section! We normally catch it in the front. The same goes for the fireworks...which we watch from around the Crystal Palace/Casey's area.

It amazed me the last couple of times we went how many (I hope) 18+ year old females that were wearing (ahem) "costumes" that may have been inappropriate for a family venue like the MK. I saw a number of them...it may be an "Alice" costume, but it's only 3" long on the bottom. I'm pretty open minded on such things, but there is a time and place for that type of getup. The MK isn't it IMHO.

I'm going on the 23rd too!

The longest waits will be for the popular characters! Seven dwarfs line can get super long and last year I missed the fireworks show b/c we were standing in it. The attraction lines are not long at all but we usually spend the night hitting up the character M&Gs and candy spots!

I'd say don't miss the Boo To You Parade (but be prepared to have that song in your head for months to come afterwards!:ROFLOL:), and get there early so you dont miss the start with the Headless Horseman. Also don't miss the Hallowishes Fireworks. Go in costume because it really makes you feel part of the festivities, and do a little trick or treating (not because the candy is so special but it's just a neat thing to do in the MK). Definitely go into the Haunted Mansion, and if you can, get a Photopass photo in front of HM because there are some really neat ghoulish backgrounds you can order with the picture.

If there are any rides you particularly love, go on them because the waits are likely to be much shorter than they are during a busy park day, in part because of the limited ticket sales but in part because people are participating in the MNSSHP events. Lastly, show up at 4pm even though your tickets say 7pm because you can get into the park at 4pm even though the party doesn't officially start until 7pm. We tucked our costumes into a locker and changed at 7pm getting 3 extra hours in the MK with our ticket price. Enjoy!

FYI the last 2 years the jungle cruise has been closed for mnsshp, because it is a trick or treat area. I hope it changes, as the jungle cruise at night is one of my favorite things to do.

Nope, but remember no masks for adults. Last year a couple was dressed as Fred and Wilma Flintson. The guy was detained (they kept him and his better half for over an hour) until he took off the Fred mask and promised not to put it back on.

I will be attending on 10/2 for the first time and I am really looking forward to it as Halloween is my favorite time of year. My BF and I are considering the following for costumes: Aurora & Prince Philip, Peter Pan & Wendy, or Patti Mayonnaise & Quail Man!

Check out my profile for our family-coordinated hitchchiking ghost costumes. They made quite a hit!

We will be at MNSSHP again this year on October 2nd. We actually plan our trips around MNSSHP and F&W :)

We think that MNSSHP is the BEST "hard ticket" event in the parks. Totally agree with opinions expressed upthread that Boo-to-You parade and HalloWishes fireworks are the most enjoyable offered at the World.

We don't do many rides (except for HM, of course!). We prefer instead to maximize the party experience by meeting characters, especially villains such as Maleficent (my idol!) who don't normally make an appearance other than at the Castle Forecourt "Dream Along with Mickey" show. It's also fun to get photos with the princesses accompanied by their princes (which is a rather rare opportunity). And then there's Mickey/Minnie & Donald/Daisy in their special Halloween costumes!

Another thing we make sure to do is to use our PhotoPass for those special effect photos that can only be taken during the party: HM coach driver and hitchhiking ghosts are awesome! There is also Cinderella's coach which is
lovely. Last year it was set up near Pinocchio Village Haus. Disney usually offers a 40% discount on all PhotoPass photos taken during MNSSHP.

That would be a horrible thing to be subjected to.

I went to my first MNSSHP last October. My friend and I decided to go as old-time Mousketeers. We had t-shirts made for us, with the old Mickey Mouse Club House logo patch embroidered on the back and our names embroidered on the fronts, and wore our Mickey Mouse Club ears hats. It was easy to pack and comfortable to wear in the still-hot October weather in Orlando.
