During the party this year what kind of candy did they give out? We went last year and we got a ton of candy but not so much chocolate. Nothing less we still had alot of fun and got alot of candy and was able to see hallow wishes and the parade which were both incredible.

We were there the last week of September and didn't receive any chocolate. I would think that they stay away from chocolate because it would melt too easily. It didn't matter to us, we were just excited to be there!

In the beginning of October we got maybe 30-35% chocolate based candy.

Lots of Smarties.

Lots of Laffy Taffy

In fact I was just eating NECCO wafers from then about 2 minutes ago (candy lasts me a long time, i don't eat much of it)

In fact I still have about 2 lbs left. It may get distributed for halloween :)

We didn't get much chocolate, either. But for us it wasn't a concern. If I want chocolate I can just buy some. My son and I love- love- loved the party. The candy is sort of a bonus in my opinion.

It really does depend on when you go and where you get it from. This year I have seen the following candies given out:

-Werther's Original
-Skittles
-Smarties
-Snickers
-M&Ms
-NECCO Waifers
-Baby Ruth
-3 Musketeers
-Laffy Taffy
-Sour Patch Kids
-Peanut M&Ms
-York Pepermint Patties
-chocolate eyeballs
-half-egg shapped chocolate
-Dum Dums
-Tootsie Roll Pops
-Jolly Ranchers
-chocolate coins
-100 Grand
-Twix
-Milky Way
-Crunch Bars
-gummy hot dogs/hamburgers
-generic suckers

And there are probably more...but yes, these were all given out in some quantity this year at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The candy is all stored in refrigerated semi-trucks. The bins that they are given out from are not all that deep. The candy rests on a platform that is usually covered in ice packs to keep the candy cool and prevent from melting.

It is random chance. In the past we've done two of the Halloween parties in a particular year the first party was more than 50% chocolate and the other was 90% nasty stuff with a large amount of stuff made in China that I we were afraid to let the kids eat.

This year we did our Halloween in Disneyland.. where there too our earlier night was filled with mostly M&M mars products and the later trip was filled with more or less bag candy.. laffy taffy, jolly rancher type stuff. Though we were surprised by the fact that stations in Disneyland seemed to have carrots at most every trick or treat station.

I get the feeling that they don't put a lot of thought into the candy its just a whatever they have type of thing.

Well there went my theory. I was thinking maybe because a lot of chocolates come from factories that have peanuts and with a lot of peanut allergies maybe they want to stay away.....I don't know. It was a thought but seeing that they were giving out some chocolate I am probably wrong. LOL:ROFLOL:

Some kind of soft Caramel. Not Werthers. Looked like a small Cows Tail, but was not a Cows Tail.

and one I have never seen anywhere else Chick-O-Stick - The size and shape of a Root Beer Barrel candy, but was basicly the middle of a Butterfinger - however it was pale pink in color. I have no idea what somone was on when they created that thing.

I don't think they worry about allergies... I'm allergic to carrots but they were still passing them out.

I found when we went on the 18th of October that the candy got substantially better as the night went on. I think the chocolate hit our bag later in the evening to avoid melting but there still wasn't a lot of it.

Wouldn't it be cool if they gave out Disney Goofy's Candy Company stuff? Like the chip and dale treats and such???

I want to know when they stopped handing candy out at the exit at the end of the party, as well as what happened to the cool mickey projections they had, espically the one in the water by the old fantasyland skyway station.

Is it just me or were the parties this year a lot more crowded in years past, we went twice last week and both were packed, are they selling more tickets to each and reducing the perks this year?

They still handed out candy outside the park at the exit. It usually came out around 9pm and was out there until supplies last which usually was until park close.

There were also a pumpkin Mickey projection and a ghost projection on the concrete at the main entrance every party night.

Also, as Halloween draws closer and closer, the parties do get busier and busier. While I can't quote an exact park attendance number or if it has increased in past years, my guess is that the parties have just become more popular with vacationers and locals. The last three nights this year sold out after all.

Thanks, we must have missed the candy at the exit both times then, we did stay till the party ended both times so maybe that was why. I saw the projections at the entrance, they use to have them around the park as well, but maybe they just 86'ed them.

I think your right, it has just become a lot more popular now than in years past.

If you were at the party when it ended at midnight, then you would not have received candy at the exit. The party ends at midnight and all candy distribution stops at that time. Most people forget what time it is when they ACTUALLY leave the park...
