Once again dissapointed Mets fan, but happy to see the Nats finally get some postseason play. although a divisional rival I will be rooting all the way for Davey's squad.

Also, like the expanded play-offs. Now at least
there is some benefit for winning your division.
I'm a big Mets fan, and I feal your pain. But at least Ike Davis has hit 30 homeruns and today Dickey got his 20th win. :)

Those could be the two most dangerous teams this postseason (imo).

For the Giants, Tim Lincecum is heating up at the right moment, and has been vicious on the mound lately. After the 2010 postseason, we know what he is capable of when it really counts. 2012 hasn't been his best season by a long shot, but if he has a good Sep/Oct...none of the previous months will matter. Of the teams which have guaranteed a playoff spot thus far, the Giants would have to be the dark horse due to their uncharacteristic struggles during many parts of this season. Yet on paper, they have the most dangerous pitching rotation...if it can come through. The Nationals & Reds may be riding high, but should be a bit concerned over San Fran & it's gradually improving pitching; especially considering not how, but when they're getting hot.

As for the Braves...they're ticked. They have so much to play for after last season's historic collapse which came down to their final game of 2011. It was humiliating, it was historical, there's no denying...they're ticked over that. You could see the fire in this team when Freddie Freeman hit his walk-off home run to clinch their playoff spot last night. It will be interesting if the St. Louis Cardinals clinch the 2nd wild card spot still for grabs in the NL. This would mean the Cards & Braves meet in a one game do-or-die playoff match. Granted, the Cards look impressive again this year, and certainly playoff-worthy. But the Braves will be far from forgiving after last season's outcome. Repeat or revenge?

Agree. And I'm a huge Braves fan. It would be great for them to go all the way in Chipper's last season. I think his injury last year had a lot to do with their collapse. Chipper's injury along with a couple of others killed the teams moral. Everything fell apart in a massive way after.

One year ago today (9/28/11): "There will never be another night like this!"

Happy 1-year anniv. of what many fans believe to be the most exciting night of regular season baseball ever! On this date last September, we were sitting on the very last day of regular season baseball for 2011. The St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays were on the verge of completing the two greatest come-from-behind pennant/wild card chase upsets in the history of the sport. It all came down to this very night....exactly one year ago.

Let's start talking about who's going to win it all. I'll say Reds because of Johnny Cueto and Drew Stubbs. Must I name more players?

I think the Nats will take it all, but the Tigers and Giants are dark horses IMO

I would have to agree with you, but I don't think the players have enough playoff experience, being in first play since I can't remember, and that Washington hasn't been in the playoffs since 1933 (Washington Senators).

Just a shot in the dark, but I'm going to pick the San Francisco Giants over the Detroit Tigers in 6.

Pitching wins championships. Despite having a far from stellar 2012 season, the SF Giants have a very dangerous pitching rotation which seems to be warming up at the right moment. It doesn't matter how much they stink in the summer, but how good they are when autumn arrives.

Of course, I'm not always the best at predicting these sorta things a month away from the World Series. (Last year, I picked the Philadelphia Phillies over the NY Yankees in 7. So... )

Philadelphia loses to Miami 2-1 today, officially knocking Philly outta contention for the 2nd NL wild card spot still open. Gotta hand it to Philly for a great push toward the end after earlier struggles this season.

Long suffering Braves fan (Atlanta sports fan). Would love to see the Braves do well this post-season, but not holding my breath. The walk, single , 3-run homer philosophy doesn't seem to get it done in the post-season. Never seem to have enough offense...

I think they'll contend again next year. I wonder whether they'd have made the playoffs if they hadn't traded away Pence, Victorino and Blanton a couple months back. (Same thing for the Brewers trading away Greinke.)
