From what I've read, not everyone is on board with the Beltran move. If they get rid someone like Ichiro or Vernon Wells preferably, I'll view the deal much better. (I assume someone is going to be traded because of the packed outfield.) I assume the starting lineup for 2014 will be Gardner in LF, Ellsbury in center and Soriano/Beltran in right on most days. The Yankees signed Kelly Johnson before Cano left but they've been linked to Omar Infante. If that doesn't work, for backup 2B, could Soriano be the answer? That's a possibility in my book. Still, I'm ticked that 3B hasn't been addressed and not much from pitching! Kuroda signed a one year deal but they still need another starter. I'm assuming Pineda (If he ever does pitch at all!) will not be 100% at his best. I assume David Phelps will not be at his best. So another starting pitcher is necessary. And the bullpen? That hasn't been addressed, at all They need a closer and if they've already decided Robertson to be the closer, you need a set up man!

Brian Roberts has left the Orioles after a 13 year run with them to go to the Yankees. traitor

The Yankees have signed Roberts for $2 million. I can't say I'm sorry he's leaving. Now they can deal with his injury-prone ways

Yeah, I liked him and he could have had a great career, but he just couldn't stay healthy.

Now the Yankees have two part-time second basemen to replace Cano. Between Roberts and Kelly Johnson they might have enough to cover the position. Maybe.

Hall of Fame announcement coming in 10 minutes...most people are predicting Maddox, Glavine and Thomas. Some are also saying Biggio.

Maddux and Glavine are my husband's favorite players of all time next to Sandy Koufax. He's ecstatic and has a trip to Cooperstown booked for the induction. :)

A-Roid has been suspended for the entire 2014 season, including the postseason.

This is actually great news for the Yankees. It frees up big money to sign Tanaka or other players.

The whole situation is complicated. I just want A-Rod to disappear literally and never don the pinstripes ever again. 3B still hasn't addressed this offseason so at least, they now know he won't be in uniform but Nunez as the guy at third? That guy couldn't field a grounder if his life depended on it! Not to mention he's an awful hitter, as well. A perfect world would mean neither of those two don't play one inning in 2014 at third. If they get Tanaka, I assume they won't pursue a free agent for third. If not, they may follow through.

MLB TV was putting Kelly Johnson at 3B but he could be needed at 2B. What are the odds Brian Roberts stays healthy.

Now A-Rod is suing MLB...
Rodriguez in his suit claimed the Major League Baseball Players Association ''completely abdicated its responsibility to Mr. Rodriguez to protect his rights'' and ''this inaction by MLBPA created a climate in which MLB felt free to trample'' on Rodriguez's confidentiality rights.

It's already a lost cause for A-Rod, according to Lester Munson, the ESPN legal analyst from ESPN.com:

Q: Will a federal judge overturn the arbitrator's decision, and what are Rodriguez's chances for success in court?

A: Rodriguez has zero chance of ultimate success. He and his team of lawyers and public relations specialists will make dramatic claims that the arbitration hearing was unfair and that the evidence against him was deeply flawed. But after they have concluded their fulminations, Rodriguez and his team will end up facing the fact that the decision will not be reconsidered. There is a chance that a federal judge at the trial court level may issue a temporary order stopping the enforcement of the arbitrator's decision. But it would be a temporary victory for Rodriguez. And even if Rodriguez were to somehow win in the trial court in New York, it would be reversed quickly in a higher court.
