If only there was some person or some company with the vision to experiment with new ways to solve the problems of American cities like transportation bottlenecks and moving people from place to place efficiently.

I wonder what the reliability rating is now. Didn't it used to be 90-something percent?
43.26%
Yes it's the internet - of course I made it up.
I know you weren't the one who said anything about them being painted. If you read my post again you will see that I separated that pretty clearly. I did react to the buses because frankly I don't know what you expect for nothing. Those buses cost around 300K each, they are hardly pieces of junk. Their purpose is to get your butt to the parks, resorts or other locations in WDW. They would cost 500K each if they had the creature comforts that you seem to be looking for. Slow, late or unpredictable, well, probably, but, as we so much hate to acknowledge here they exist in the real world, with real world obstacles. Bring your Rolls Royce and you will have the comfort, but, they still won't get you there any quicker, but, they will be predictable which is exactly why automobiles are so popular. However, you wouldn't probably pay for a Rolls to just get you a couple of miles to a theme park where the actual fun is located. To clarify, I'm not the one who said anything about painting them to look like monorails.
I don't care if buses are themed or not. They're buses. They're slow, often late or at least unpredictable, and not very comfortable.
It is a concern of mine as well, but, not a huge one. They have a much better safety and reliability history then many of the posts on the boards would have you to believe. I do think that it is one of the reasons that Disney will never expand the line when other methods of transport are available. As a utility/attraction, it contributes all it needs to with the two MK loops and the Epcot connection. One gets to ride and experience it and it serves a purpose to move people from one spot to another so it is a win - win! All that most people use any of the transportation for is from resort to park or resort to DS. Other methods are available like boats or buses. The need really doesn't exist for anything more other then twice a day at opening and closing and no one would invest that kind of cash in a system that is only used heavily during those narrow time spans. Like it was mention before many of the alleged Monorail "breakdowns" are really nothing more the waiting for traffic clearance and spacing out the trains. I never understood that anyway. If you stop for a red light with your car is it reported as a breakdown? If you get held up in traffic, is that a breakdown or a temporary obstruction.I've actually become very leery of the Monorails.... My wife and I would prefer being stuck on the side of the road in a bus, vs 40 feet in the air.
We won't fool with these things until the evacuation reports go down. Just us.... all personal opinion. Everyone else should do what they desire.
And yet most of the time they only have two of those running...and when the monorails go down it's a nightmare. If only there was a high capacity ferry boat option... Oh wait, there is.
One of my last visits, I was stuck on one between Grand Floridian and Polynesian for almost an hour. I started getting claustrophobic really quickly, and being packed in there like sardines was awful.I've actually become very leery of the Monorails.... Man, your idea of a nightmare and mine are two completely different things. A little bit more crowded on the ferries, yes, but, nightmare? I have never been left behind unless I arrived a couple minutes to late and they had already lifted the ramp and untied the moorings. Not much different then having the doors close on the monorail right when you get there. And yet most of the time they only have two of those running...and when the monorails go down it's a nightmare.

Try dealing with being stuck in the middle of the seven seas lagoon for nearly an hour with a packed ferry boat and you're not docking because the other two boats are currently static docked at the TTC and they don't tell you what's happening until about a half hour into just floating on a cold night in the middle of the lake...a medical emergency of some sort...and everyone is pushing and shoving and cursing and screaming and kids are crying.Man, your idea of a nightmare and mine are two completely different things. It was hellish. I'd almost rather be stuck on Small World for an hour.

First world problems.
Very cute, Captain Empathy. I'm guessing that being stuck on a packed ferry in the middle of a lake wouldn't be your idea of a good time, either.First world problems.
