So... our seats were in the Mezzanine section, about in the center-left area. By the time we were seated it was about 15 minutes to showtime. The time passes rather quickly, and after the lights dimming and the curtain rising...

With the accompaniment of two backups in the balcony seating along the side of the theater, Rafikki proceeds through the prelude of Circle of Life, which eventually culminates in something life this:

Now, rather than going through scene by scene, I'll step back and make some general statements.


The costuming department deserves a huge pat on the back for this thing, and give them another award while your at it. The costumes are simply stunning. They maintain a sense of artistic realism, in which the animal qualities are accentuated while retaining human emotion.
