We always tell people though, in the order form, that "this is a total candid moment, we do our best to capture your child at the moment they recieve (whatever it is they are getting...in this case,) diploma , thus we do not have any control over position or cap, tassel or expression." The same statement could work with communion. We can't control how people are going to look in a candid moment...which stinks, but it's almost impossible to do.
Although for communions, we have been known to take individual pictures before hand...so that way you are guaranteed at least one decent picture. Suprised the photographer didn't do it that way.
The group shot is another story though. We always make sure people are staggered so they can be seen in the pic. And we even say sometimes, if you can't see us, we can't see you.
This is why you hire professionals who are actually professionals, not ametuers posing as professionals.
