I'm going to a horse race on Sunday. I haven't been to one in years... Anyone ever go? Think it would be bad to bet the minimum of $2 a race? I really don't want to gamble, but I thought it'd make ti more fun...

Oooo, we used to go all the time when I was a kid! My grandpa would give us $5 to put on any horse (we didn't know we were gambling at the time  ). We'd always pick them by name, of course, so they rarely won

We go to the dog races once or twice a yr. I bet on the names. I have won some that way.:o I did bet on a dog once her name was Snow White. She came in first-I won $15 on a $2 bet.:sohappy: The look on DHs face was priceless.  :sohappy:

I haven't read any for fear it might give things away. So people tended to like it? Rottentomatoes.com has it at 50%. I'm just thinking it's going to be so LONG!

I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy and saw the last two in the theater; Two Towers is about 3 hrs, Return of the King is about 3 1/2. POTC: AWE will be a piece of cake! Besides it depends on how much soda (pop, coke, etc  ) you drink anyway. :D

I have to come clean here: this weekend is our Canal Days festival, which is a basically a street fair in downtown Dover. My daughter will be doing her dance routines on Saturday afternoon, and my FIL and step-MIL have decided to come over to see her. Which sounds very nice. But....I DON'T WANT COMPANY. My house is truly a mess, and I haven't felt much like cleaning. Plus, my step-MIL is bringing two of her own grandkids along, whom I don't even know. And my BIL is also coming. So, a whole houseful and I'm completely not ready for any of them. Is it wrong to pray for bad weather? If it rains, we aren't going, since the stage is outside. :brick: :brick: And they may not come if the weather is bad.
Sorry...I know it sounds childish, it's just honestly how I feel. I'm not particularly close to DH's family, never have been.

The festival sounds like fun! I love street fests! One of the many things I miss about Chicago is summer festival season.

Want me to do my Stephanie-Raindance for you to take care of the weather? :king:

Can you arrange it that you all meet up at the Festival, spend time together there, maybe share a meal, and then call it a day?

I'm sorry. And you're not being childish. I know how it is to not completely enjoy being around your in-laws.
At least your mother-in-law didn't say "you think you're better than everyone" to your face and laugh at you when you started crying. :lookaroun
