Turns out that they put the drywall right up against the concrete... so they can't go from inside the house. Now they're working on digging a giant freaking hole right in the center of my front lawn...

I'm sorry, Bunny - I wish there was someway you could get help with this. Did the previous owners know the extent of the problem? You stated they tried to fix it, but didn't finish it right, didn't you? If they knew of the problem and didn't disclose it they should be liable. Do you still have the full disclosure agreement?
