It's actually mentioned in the article I'm doing and that I just linked. I honestly never heard about it. To be honest, even though I took a few classes on special education, I am not a special education major so I never went in depth on the different disorders, disabilities and such. So I'm still learning and it's all interesting. It's good that I become more educated though because of inclusion and the potential for having to deal with all kinds of students in the future

We definitely need more training for education majors, as the need for special-ed training grows. I applaud your efforts. :)

I'm a great dweller.
I can dwell myself into a tizzy!
In fact, I have!

 Me too. ;)

No, Jess is actually evil. :lookaroun

All b/c I watched a movie?

Btw... One Night with the King is a GREAT movie.

Hi Jess!

So you didn't think about any of the rest of us today:p

Oops... lol Didn't mean to dig myself into that hole. ;)

I have to go.
Good night everyone!
Sweet dreams!

 Good Night sweetie.

I do too :)

I teach preshool and have had some autistic children. They've ranged from mild to severe.
My wife is a RN and worked for a school that specialized in teaching autistic children. It's really amazing what these children can accomplish given a chance. Treatment and understanding has come a long way.

At my university (which has the best education program around) they started by having everyone become ESOL endorsed (English Speakers of Other Languages). Eventually, they will implement a special education endorsement because of inclusion. Probably not the same as actually majoring in it since you go more into depth there but anything helps. Thanks

Sounds like things are really coming along!

A couple of months ago I decided to take down the multiple layers of wall paper in our bathroom and paint it. When I start a project I want it done now. It looks decent....but definetly not perfect! :lookaroun I wonder what it will be like when Jay and I finally buy a house and start to do work.

We always knew we'd do all the work. We've done investment properties before and had alot of fun fixing them up together.

Our biggest thing now... is that when it's our own house... we want everything done just right... and we're splurging on little things like 7" trim and crown molding. You'd never find that in an investment property. ;) But... we decided it'd be worth the extra effort since it was something we were doing together.

I don't feel sooo bad... b/c when we start the painting... Jay will pretty much be hands off. He hates to paint - and he's terrible at it. So that'll be my baby. All 8 rooms. LOL My sister volunteered to help some.... so y'all probably won't be seeing too much of me next week. haha

I still say it sounds like a one night stand sort of thing.

It's a Biblical movie based on the life of Esther... I admit, I was a bit weary to watch it... those TBS specials drive me nuts. But this was actually a very good movie, good plot (duh) good actors, and really well done. :)

I always start out liking painting, but then I start to get bored with it (especially trying to get around all the doors and windows and keeping everything nice and neat). I couldn't do 8 rooms!

When we started looking at houses in NY our relator was showing us houses that "needed some work" I was thinking..when we move we will have been married for 1 month, in a new area, I don't think we need to work on a fixer upper....especially not the prices of the homes that needed work.

That is so true. It's amazing how I see my autistic students blossom. They are truely precious.

Thank you - we've been fortunate with our son's preschool teacher. 2/3rds of the students in the class are SNKs, and she is great!
You are welcome! I'm so glad you have such a wonderful teacher. That makes such a big difference. :)

 I'm sort of a paint freak. In our last condo... I painted the master bedroom 6 times in 3 years. :lookaroun Whenever I get sick of a room... i just change the color... it's a cheap fix - no need to replace furniture. LOL

Yikes. I don't blame you - not right after you get married. lol Thats stressful enough getting used to. ;)

When I paint... I trim a wall first (the long part) and then fill in afterwards. It makes it go faster to me... lol

Annnnd just to add to this... we're actually going to Kilz everything first. (Ceilings, trim, walls, closets, everything) Just to give it all a fresh start. Thennnn I'm going back and painting each room their appropriate colors. So technically I'm painting 16 rooms. :lookaroun  But... we have a paint sprayer for the Kilz... so that will make it a speedy process. lol
