There's a debate going on in the autism community (when isn't there?

), from those who believe that autism is a state that should be accepted, not changed or 'cured'. I think these voices are from the higher end of the spectrum. I accept that my son is autistic, but I also believe he can learn basic care, hygiene, and does not need to spend his day lining up his cars/trains and running back and forth, stimming. In that sense, those are things he needs to change, or find alternatives to those things. Am I making any sense?
