News Mizner's Lounge to be expanded at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort into a Beauty and the Beast inspired lounge

Do people whine this much in real life or just online? The Grand Floridian's exterior is based on a Californian hotel so it's never matched it's theme.

I understand your point. But, Disney - for years - really pushed thematic consistency as a major selling point. And one that hooked is. Plus, Disney is now billing itself and charging as a true luxury destination. So, people should be free to judge accordingly.

Many things they are doing are great and are praised accordingly. Pandora, Destino Tower (aside from scale only), Skyliner, etc. When they make odd design choices that don't fit. And, more importantly, seem to be blatant forcing of movie properties, fans should be fair to criticize. Especially at the very high mark up they pose.

To be fair. Saying something is bad and not providing reasons is whining. Critiquing is not. And, I would say being fan of something doesn't mean unconditional praise regardless of what they do.

Pssst...the dirty little secret is: it wasn’t.

On another note, I have it in good authority that new Disney coming slogan is:

“Where profits are expensive”
Actually the chandelier above the bar came in at a cool $100k. I will let you decide if that is cheap or not, that's not sarcasm. I think each will get their own mileage out of this chandelier. For me personally I thought it looked great in person maybe even stunning.

I like the forest room, but it's missing something. Feels a littttttle empty?
100% agreed. Don't get me started on the patio. But the bar in the library, look great if not slightly misplaced in the Victorian setting of The Grand Floridian. That said I do prefer them over the original dingy dark and mildewy mizner's Lounge.

I see too many styles of furniture, it lacks cohesion.
I also don't like the shade of yellow on the chairs, too bright! looks more like mustard to me, it clashes with the blue on the walls.
The stark palette chosen for this space doesn't feel very "adult" for a lounge, imo.

to be fair, I haven't visited the place yet, so I'll have to see it in person to have a definite opinion. 🤷‍♀️

WRONG - it does match in terms of era. It did in 1988 at least when WDW was still classy.

Indeed...

First, it resembles the hotel del Coronado near San Diego...but the period is still accurate (opened in 1888)...that’s right down the alley of the Victorian era.

Second, it was Influenced by other hotels...including the biltmore and the breakers...so not locked into just one model. Disney did that a lot...the American adventure building is a combo of several Buildings...notably faneuil hall, Monticello, the Virginian state house and independence hall.
It’s “architecture though collaboration” and it wasn’t “broke”.

This place serves two purposes:
1. Character nonsense to beat the modern wdw traveler like a drum...indoctrination 24 hours a day.
2. Vanity...as it’s ludicrously priced to serve a new generation of new money that go to excesses with everything in the modern “me culture”

Ok...just an opinion...don’t shoot me. In out 😎

This is far from good. This in no way (except for the sign) fits in the GF. The forest room looks like the Art of Animation food court, and the Library feels weirdly generic. Plus, who picked out that furniture? Some that watches two hours of HGTV could do better. Shame we had to lose the GF Orchestra Perch for this.

I still think it's an odd fit for the Grand Floridian, but I don't hate it. It's also nice to see they have some cocktails beyond their usual offerings.

ETA: The tableside cocktails spiel is kinda cute. Starts at around 5:25

The pricing of this is directly aimed at deterring locals from hanging out like they used to at Mizners.
Excellent point.

Maybe HGTV has some shows coming to Disney+?

Corporate synergy in the “consumer products division”?

You know what's funny?
I think it looks really nice. Definitely a big upgrade, if you ignore the fact that it doesn’t really fit with the GF. That was my issue before. It is my issue now. Glad they were able to deliver something that looks nice at least.
