thats right- but a week after july 4th is still a major difference between the rumored 'late 2003'

well.. grand opening is still in October... which is late 2003.

and if you wanna get into semantics though... July is in the latter half of the year (month 7 out of 12)... which would mean it IS in late 2003, whereas June would be Early 2003

I think the week after the 4th of July is more realistic. I don't think Disney would open an attraction for its guests on a limited (ie- a few hours) basis on its busiest day of the year. Complaints would shoot through the roof and fighs would break out.
Unless of course it opens for guests during the final week of June, which is what the recent M:S update on the site states. And that was even when we thought the recent party would take place a week from today.

and risk the complaints and backlash from guests who were there for the extended period of time... quite a few people go for 2 weeks at a time

Guests will complain regardless of when SPACE opens--people will always bark at Disney when a ride is not open for the entire day--that is how guests are. The fact that this is an unnannouced soft opening would allow Disney to, as with any E-Ride, state that it could close at ANY time. They did this with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster four years ago--it opened with sneak previews in late June. Test Track opened during an even busier season, with soft openings beginning Christmas week 1998.

Man, things sure were busy at Mission:Space tonight. People kept walking in and out the building.I think those people got to ride it and cast members were everywhere outside to make sure no one else got near the building. They had blocked it off with a bunch of trees.

Which entrance was blocked off with planters? Are you referring to the gift shop entrance or the main entrance (a.k.a. is the construction wall gone?)? And, I know it was a joke, but guests complain any time an attraction closes...but they usually get over it lol

Guests who complain? NEVER. Never on these boards...he he...

Disney can never win with some people. They have to have soft openings to make sure everything is PERFECT for the masses. I think it is a good idea. Its like going to vegas for the guests. Its a gamble going early but you may be one of the first to ride it!

During soft openings. will M:S feature on the epcot park map (if so...we need pics!!!)? Am I right in thinking that soft openings are when the ride opens for various lenghts throughout the day, and then closed randomly? Are soft openings the full ride experience?

thanks! :)

The trees werent near the building they were by the benches that lead up to the building and by TT that one path to the side that takes you over to the building.
