Hey, i was just over checking out the Mission:Space website, and I noticed something, not new news, but it's interesting, we've seen this view from the sky, but amazingly enough on their own website, disney shows us a view of the centrifuges.

Look at the construction pics, and go to the pic from 2/15/2001, there it is, surprisingly out in the open. Now if on;y there was some way to enlarge the photo.

Here's the site so u don't have to search around for it
Mission: Space official site

Interesting, isn't it?

You can even see the bar that is connected to the center that will swing around

Press Release from ETC - Notice Time frame for performance mentioned in article.

Environmental Tectonics Corporation Signs Major Entertainment Ride Contract; Company Backlog Hits Record Level
Wednesday, February 2, 2000 07:47 AM

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- William F. Mitchell, President and CEO, Environmental Tectonics Corporation (ETC) (Amex: ETC), announced the signing of a contract with a major entertainment industry Customer on January 28, 2000. The contract, exceeding $25 million in value, with an approximately 3-year performance period, was awarded to ETC's wholly owned subsidiary, Entertainment Technology Corporation, and will be performed at ETC's Southampton, PA, facilities. The total project will entail the design and production of a totally new entertainment ride attraction, and also includes supervising of installation. In issuing the announcement, Mitchell noted that the project has been in the development stage for over 18 months, and is now ready to enter the final design and production stages. The development effort represented a unique cooperative effort between ETC and its Customer, whose identity may not be disclosed because of contractual prohibitions. The Customer's selection of ETC for this major project was a direct result of ETC's exceptional combination of advanced ride perception technology and superior technical and manufacturing capabilities. Mr. Mitchell also commented that, "This contract reflects the Customer's high level of confidence in our ability to work with them on a day-to-day basis. This confidence has been evidenced by several other very successful entertainment rides we have produced for them, and several projects now in progress. It is certainly a major milestone, and it firmly establishes ETC as a major player in the robustly expanding entertainment ride market."

With the addition of this contract, ETC's total backlog now approaches $53 million -- the largest in its 30-year history.

For nearly 30 years, ETC has been on the leading edge of the design, manufacture, installation, training and long-term maintenance of its products in the U.S. and 65 countries worldwide. These products include: aircrew training systems for standard and high-performance aircraft; disaster management simulators; industrial sterilization equipment and environmental simulation systems; clinical Hyperbaric systems, entertainment/amusement systems; and related hardware and software products. ETC's main plant and offices are located in Southampton, PA, USA, with subsidiary locations in Orlando, FL, the UK, Warsaw, Poland and Ankara, Turkey.

Certain matters in this press release are forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those in the forward-looking statements. This includes, but is not limited to, market acceptance of new products, competitive actions, economic conditions, and other risks indicated in filings from time to time with the Securities Exchange Commission.

It is clearly not part of the outside of the building. If you look at the next 2 pictures, it is surrounded by the outside walls. This doesn't neccasarily mean it is the centrifuge, but it is definately something on the INSIDE of the building, and it sure looks like something I would consider to be the base of a cetrifuge!!:sohappy:

Also, if you check out the website, they have updated it as recently as last month. They have a new blurb on the reasoning behind the design of the outside of the building. Intersting to read.

It's there 2-15-2001 (not 2002), you can clearly see it. It also seems from the "Press Release" that they will open the courtyard and inside before the ride.

Good fishing for those pics....i think you're probably right...those are the centrifuges.....

Looks like the most recent pics on there show the outside of the building starting to come around.

Looks like they're finally making progress.

The giant red globe in the entry to the inside of the Mission Space Pavillion. It is not the centrifuge as some so claim. If you look at the Mission Space pics on the very website there is a pic and in it you will see 4 circles that are going to be the bases that the centrifuges will sit in. This area will be located in the back park of the building where the red globe sits.

Disney, nor anyone else for that matter, can sue you for taking a picture of anything. The only exception is national security matters. Don't go sneeking into area 51 trying to snap some photos of hanger 7. Other than that though, there is no law against taking a picture of ANYTHING. Even if you were taking said pictures while tresspassing, carrying a pound of ganja with a shotgun slung over one shoulder and a hooker over the other.

Now if they were pictures Disney had taken and they were copyrighted, then they could sue you for copyright infringement for posting them here. They could then get a court order to have them removed from the site, but even then, they couldn't shut the site down. The site would have to violate the court order for that to be an option. That's not the case here though.

Images can only be copyrighted by the creator (the photographer), not the subject. Disney couldn't do a thing about it. Now, you'd most likely be arrested for tresspassing, drug possession, weapons possession, and solicitation, but you can take as many pictures as you want. Don't believe me? Just ask Rodney King and the LAPD.

btw...this doesn't apply to cast members. They are bound by the terms of their employment which prohibits them from taking pictures backstage. Disney could fire them, and possibly sue them if they were really mad, for doing so.

Also, ETC is building the ride vehicles for MS and built CyberSM as well.

if the picture was taken by someone trespassing on Disney property, then charges could be filed as accesory to trespassing. With something this important, they do NOT want their proprietary information/technologies being.. well in the hands of their competition.

And before someone says "we have the right to know," well guess what? Disney is a PRIVATE CORPORATION. The theme parks are in no way, shape, or form part of the Reedy Creek improvement district. This means, that although WDW is a government entity, the parks are part of the private sector, meaning, that since this is PROPRIETARY, as much as you'd like to peek around and see everything, and know everything about this, YOU DON'T NEED TO.

Just wait like everyone else.. ever heard of a SURPISE?
