Certain people do get very sick from it. M:S is basically a very sophisticated Gravitron- so you are constantly spinning in rapid speeds.

Personally, I never dealt well with gravitrons growing up, but I have tried M:S a few times, and haven't gotten sick from it yet. The spinning does make me feel a little bit uncomfortable though, but most of that is probably in my head. I'm always paranoid about getting sick before I get on M:S, so that makes it sort of tough for me to enjoy the ride.

I'd suggest trying it once before you decide whether it's for you or not.

Mission Space has 2 options. Orange which is the original version and Green which is a modified version. For someone like you who has issues with rides that spin, I would suggest riding the Green version as this is the version that does NOT spin. You still get all the other effects of the ride, just the pods themselves do not spin, which is what creates the G-force effect. Don't pass up going on Mission Space for fear of it making you sick, just remember to ride the Green side.

It never bothered me. I haven't been on the non-spinning version.

I will give you one piece of advice: follow the warnings about not moving your head from side to side.

Have a great trip

Welcome to WDWMagic.

Enjoy :D

And if in doubt, get a barfbag... :D

To give you some more info: My dad can not handle spinning of any kind (he can't ride the teacups and he has to take dramamine to ride everest because of the loop/spin at the end) and he can not handle M:S. When he gets off he can not walk. So if you can't handle spinning I would recommend trying the green only (and then if you feel adventurous enough try the orange).

Have a great trip!

Hope my experience helps:
I was there two years ago and went in with 8 other people. We all got a little hit by the G-force. My post-ride symptoms were mild and gone by the half hour: I just felt a little exhausted suddenly.
The worst case in my party was a stomach-ache which was taken to the nursery just in case. A small medicine later, my friend was as good as new.
The rest of my party felt some soft head-ache wihch also went off quickly. Some had to close their eyes during it and almost reached for the barfbag.
It may not sound very positive but we all had a great experience and most of us pretend to ride it again some day.

Have fun!

Everyone's a little bit different, but I TRIED to get sick on it and really couldn't. I drank 5 glasses of Beverly from Club Cool and even looked sideways. With only a passing moment of discomfort during a "slingshot"- I was just fine.

The first time I rode it, I walked leaning to the left afterwards.

Again, my tolerances may not reflect yours. You know how you take to other rides, particularly spinners better than I do.

Some had to close their eyes during it

This is the worst thing you can do and they advise against it. Whatever you do do NOT close your eyes during the attraction, especially if you are riding the orange (original) version as this will only make the spinning/g-forces more apparent to you. Keep your eyes open and focused on the screen in front of you and do exactly what they tell you. You will be given jobs to do during the ride, i.e. buttons to push. You are assigned roles (captain, engineer etc) and you are each assigned tasks to do during the ride (deploy heat shields etc). Pay attention to what you have to do and keep your eyes on the screen ahead of you. Do NOT turn your head sideways and do NOT, do NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES! That will totally throw off your equilibrium. While your eyes are open, your mind believes your body is travelling in a straight line but if you close your eyes, this belief is shattered when your mind suddenly realizes it's actually spinning.

As I said in an earlier post, if you have issues with rides that spin, avoid riding the Orange side of Mission Space and ride the Green Side as this side does NOT spin.

I rode the orange version and did not feel sick at all. It does feel a little strange though, but it is an exciting experience. I would go in the morning on an empty stomach just to be safe though.

The easy way to remember which side is which is that GREEN means GO. After the ride is over, you will be able to GO to the next attraction using your own feet. ORANGE is the same color as the powder they shake over VOMIT.

Go on the hardcore version.. its a really good ride and its easier than people say it is. Over the past few years I took my mom who is like 60, my dad who is 62, and my wifes mom who is about 63 all on the ride. Every one of them were worried that they would be sick because they can't go on the teacups because they get sick from spinning. Anyway, they just followed the instructions of looking straight ahead and breathing and all were fine.

I get sick on any ride with any sort of simulator or spinning motion. Body Wars (when it was there), Star wars, Tea Cups, and Mission Space. anything that stirs you up that way. Even a long carousel ride. The green is better, but I was still nausious for a few hours afterward. People with motion sickness issues know the feeling. Roller coaster are no problem, just the spinning, shaking rides.

I have only been on it once, and that was when it first opened. I haven't been on it since. I just didn't feel right when I got off. I had the worst
sick-feeling headache ever. So I just avoid that ride whenever I go. I didn't think it was all what it was hyped up to be anyway. It wasn't anything special.

Like other have said, you shouldnt have any trouble on the vomit commet *cough cough* M:S, as long as you dont look sideways or close your eyes. If you do feel like your getting sick inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth. If that doesnt work take a breath and flex your abdomen over and over a few times only letting a little air out at a time of your mouth. Its basic G-force breathing technique, but works well when spinning as well. I fly aerobatic aircraft and even I was a bit skeptical about this ride the first time, but i was fine. enjoy it

I have terrible issues with spinning rides. I can't do the teacups or Primeval Hurl. However, I can ride Mission Space Orange. It doesn't bother me for some reason. However, take the warnings seriously. Do not look sideways or close your eyes. I've not tried it, but I know someone who has and they did get sick. Ride the Orange at least once. I was so scared to ride the Orange the first time because everyone kept saying how horrible it was. However, it was neat. It's like a sustained Rock'n'Roller Coaster launch.
