Mission Space Building Expansion

For those who have been on Mission Space, you should know that after exiting the centerfuge, you travel in a tunnel on the outside perimiter of the pavilian. You may have also noticed a great big service door in the tunnel leading to outside.

Plus, if you have look at arial photos or have been backstage, you can tell there is a good amount of space behind the pavilian to the service road.

From this, I could probably conclude that Mission Space could easily be added on to without the need to the close the pavilian. There might not be a great preshow area but from what I understand, the postshow could meet what the imagineers had planned.

Now, I want to know the likelyness of this happening because it seems so easy to do.

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. Just because, Disney just opened this and probably they're saying, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it".

It's a nice idea, and maybe it'll happen. But not now, as Space is only around 1.5 years old (or less ?)

It's a nice thought. M:S wasn't even the "show" in the earlier designs - it was supposed to be the equivalent of the sea cabs at the Living Seas - just what brought you to the "base". I'd like to think that empty space is because they are going to build the space station, but I'm sure it's going to be useful like the Germany dark-ride buildings is : storage.

One of the other earlier designs was a Rocket Coaster. There were many concepts for the Space Pavilian but I think the Centerfuge does the job best. Even if it is marked as training, I am sure in the future videos, the Imagineers will get around this problem. (It would be cool to have pull-away scenery but that would probably require the centerfuges to be completly rebuilt).

Nah, I don't see it happening.

There's not THAT much room back there. Only room enough for an addition that is less than half the size of the current building. Not really enough room to do anything too spectacular.

I think what we have now...is what it will always be.

Talk about Blue Sky... Thats amazing.. though i remember hearing the scaled back one being housed in the Horizons building... and utilizing both stories...

I'd neve actually seen that, only heard it referred to. [starts drooling] I would like to at least see them re-do the long circular hallway. It's really strange to go from the theming of the queue and pre-show to what looks like it could be any given hallway in any given building, save for the extraordinarily large doors and signs pointing to post-flight training. I'd really like to see them extend the theming from either the queue or post show out to this hallway.

That plain Jane hallway has a pretty explanable story behind it... they ran out of money.
I figured as much. I wish they'd do something about it during one of the rehabs in the future. Probably won't, but I'd like it if they did.

Something that I would like to see, after whenever a rehab will be, is that hallway to be re-done. I don't expect it to happen but it would be cool if it did. Here's my idea, think space mountain. The last hallway is themed like you are on the inside of a high tech space station, with windows looking out to the mars surface. Dust storms come by in certain windows and stuff like that. I think that would add to the post show, but it would probobly cost a good chunk of money. This would also mean that the theme would have to be an actual mission, not just training. Just my 2 cents.

Yes There are many chicken exits...they even (at least when i went) had CMs asking everyone right after the second pre-show video if they still wanted to ride

This concept art right here.

In one of my literature books at school that concept art is in it, as well as a model of the pavillion with Ray Bradbury holding it. I remember being just about to fall alseep while just looking through the book and then all of a sudden I come across the concept art and a model for the original space pavillion at EPCOT. Needless to say it woke me up.
